About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

What is the role?
You will be joining the rapidly growing development team of behind-the-meter energy projects. We develop solar, wind and battery projects which connect directly to our customers in the industrial and commercial sector as well as public bodies, reducing the amount of electricity they import from the grid.
This role will see you support other members of the team and take control of project tasks, to progress opportunities from concept to construction, as well as interacting with our clients.
Throughout the development, you’ll be working with internal and external resources, planning and managing your activities, and reporting on progress.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- some experience in business development and/or project development in the energy sector would be great, in solar technology would be a bonus.
- Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills, critical to identify commercial opportunities, manage risks and remove obstacles to deliver project tasks.
- The ability to be adaptable and flexible to recognise when a different approach is required and resilient in pursuing this to a successful conclusion.
- The drive to exceed our clients’ and our own expectations, readily taking ownership of the delivery process.
- The willingness to learn and ability to work with technical and economic concepts with regards to distributed energy solutions and all relevant matters pertaining to applicable legislation, in particular safety, health and the environment.

SSE Enterprise Utilities is the Distributed Energy (DE) and Private Networks business of SSE plc. We finance, own, operate and maintain energy infrastructure for commercial, industrial and residential customers - providing them with a market leading project development service and certainty of operational performance and asset management.
