This position can be based in WRI London or WRI Hague. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission.
This is a full-time, limited-term position with an initial contract period of 5 months.
About the Program:
The Integrated Climate Action (ICA) team sits within WRI’s Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and helps cities address the gap between ambition and action through aligning climate action to city priorities and by embedding climate goals in key decision-making and across the policy cycle. ICA is based on cross-sectoral and multi-level collaboration and aims to deliver inclusive and equitable benefits for urban residents while ensuring healthy ecosystems critical to sustaining planetary well-being. We focus on integration around three key dimensions: policy goals, policy instruments and stakeholders.
Job Highlight:
In this role, you will support and coordinate the ICA team’s preparations for and engagement with COP28 and other key events with a focus on highlighting the importance of multi-level governance in urban climate action. You will play an important role in project coordination within WRI and with partners, creating engagement and communications materials and conducting desk-based research to prepare for and support our engagement at COP28. You will report to the Global Lead for Integrated Climate Action and the Director for Urban Efficiency and Climate and work closely with the Strategic Engagement Manager within the ICA team.
This position is hybrid with a preference to be in office twice a week on average.
What will you do:
Communications and Engagement (50%):
- Work with Cities Communications team to prepare communications content for the Ross Center website and social media channels
- Responsible for ICA’s partner email lists, update and maintain these lists and improve processes for management and maintenance
- Prepare and send promotional and informational email to partners and key stakeholders
- Support development of key messages and prepare talking points and presentations
- Support the organization of at least one COP28 side event through facilitating coordination with partners and preparing related documents such as formal invitations and speaker briefings
- Maintain project plans and trackers via Asana and ensure all relevant activities and progress are reflected and updated
- Facilitate project coordination within WRI and with partners
- Arrange meetings, take notes of key action items and update the team on latest developments
Project coordination and management (25%):

Research (25%):
- Conduct desk-based research, including on multi-level governance and the importance of coordination between different levels of government to deliver climate action
- Support the rest of the ICA team with ad-hoc research tasks relating to Rapid Climate Action Planning or city-specific analysis.
What will you need:
- Education:You have a completed bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as geography, communications, journalism, environmental studies, history, political science, sociology, anthropology and other fields
- Experience: You have demonstrated, relevant working experience (relevant internships are considered)
- Demonstrated familiarity with urban issues, sustainable development, environment and/or international development
- Experience tracking and sharing relevant information
- Demonstrated experience of process improvement
- Languages: You have verbal and written proficiency in English

Potential Salary:
£26,769 - £32,123 if based in the UK.
€38,040 - €45,648 if based in the Netherlands.
Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
