Job description
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial convening space between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.
The Museum's Research & Impact Strategy sets out an ambitious vision for growing, developing and enhancing the Museum's research capacity and culture. Through the recent award of "Collections & Communities in the East of England", an Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Collaborative Doctoral Programme (CDP), the Museum is significantly growing its support for early career researchers. We will also be recruiting new practitioner research roles around childhood, wellbeing and community partnerships.
The Project Coordinator: Research & Impact (Inclusion & Training) will coordinate the AHRC "Collections & Communities in the East of England" Collaborative Doctoral Programme, providing a consistent point of contact for students, PhD supervisors and collaborating Higher Education Providers and collections.
Collaborating with colleagues and students from across the Museum, the University and with external organisations, the role holder will also provide overall day-to-day coordination of the Fitzwilliam's portfolio of research and impact projects, including managing documentation, financial administration, reporting and communication with key stakeholders.
We are seeking someone who has an extensive track record of research support activity and project coordination/management, with an interest in the role collections can play in research. The role holder will be someone with excellent interpersonal, organisational and prioritisation skills, and an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of people, both within the organisation and externally.
We offer an encouraging and supportive environment, an attractive pension scheme and many employee benefits such as a shopping discounts scheme.
Limited funding: the funds for this post are limited to 31 July 2025 in the first instance.
To help support our staff to thrive both professionally and personally, we have adopted a system of hybrid working, meaning staff are empowered to split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. The frequency of remote working will be subject to discussion with your line manager.
Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to: Jo Vine ([email protected]), Head of Research & Impact.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
