PROJECT COORDINATOR
About MGMP
MGMP is a woman and minority-owned and operated small business, recognized nationally as a leader in providing comprehensive planning services to museums and cultural non-profit organizations who own, operate or wish to create museums. We are a team of consultants and project managers who provide guidance related to museum facility, operations and professional practice requirements to our clients and collaborators.
In more than 40 years in business, we’ve worked on over 160 museum planning projects around the US and internationally. Our clients and projects include many of the most well-respected art, history, and university museums in the country and abroad.
We provide a broad range of services to our clients and collaborators. We develop strategic plans, business plans, staffing plans; create and revise governance structures and bylaws, lease and development agreements, and architect selection programs; and work independently and with architects to develop building space programs, site selection and acquisition programs, feasibility studies, and much more.
Our offices are located in Los Angeles, CA, and Albuquerque, NM. Most of our work is done remotely.

MGMP is seeking to add a new team member, a Project Coordinator.
This salaried position is a remote work opportunity, with occasional travel required.
Project Coordinator Job Responsibilities
This position has room for growth over time. Candidate should have a desire to grow into a larger, more responsible role.
Immediate responsibilities include:
Communication and calendar management and coordination
- Aligns project timelines with Partner and client availability
- Schedules meetings and maintains overall firm calendar
- Coordinates MGMP team availability with clients and collaborating firms
- Note-taking (and at times, direct participation) in client meetings, both online and in-person
Technical Support
- Maintain and develop new protocols and templates to streamline work processes
- Maintain and manage digital resources and files (via Google Workspace and Adobe Creative Cloud)
- Occasional website updates (via Squarespace)
- Provide as-needed technical support to the Founding Partner
Project tracking
- Contract management, including invoicing and billing
- In collaboration with the MGMP Principals, develop and maintain the project management schedule, aligning resources with goals and deliverables
Project-related research
- Finding and reviewing internet-available information, including Annual Reports, IRS Form 990s, etc.
- Developing summaries of findings for Partner review
Work Product Development
- Work closely with the Managing Partner and the client teams to develop, submit and revise draft documents
- Work with the Managing Partner to develop proposals for potential projects, occasionally in collaboration with other firms
- Assist the Managing Partner in creating client digital visual presentations (in Google Slides, InDesign)
Meetings and Occasional travel
- With Managing Partner, occasional travel to project/client meeting sites
- Booking travel arrangements
- At times, work with Managing Principal to present digital and online presentations
- As-needed photo documentation of project sites and meetings
Requirements
Required Skills
The ideal candidate:

Preferred Background / Experience
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university
- Experience working in a museum. We will also consider experience working in a cultural institution or other non-profit organization
- Interest in arts, culture, history and museums
Required Technical Expertise
- Apple OSX
- Google Workspace (Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Slides)
- Zoom
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Adobe InDesign & Creative Cloud
Highly-desired, but non-essential, technical expertise (or willing to learn)
- Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer
- Monday.com
- Miro
- Squarespace / basic HTML
- Able to read architectural plans
- AutoCAD
Physical Requirements
- Excellent vision, able to create, revise and present visual presentations.
- Able to travel independently, without assistance, to other cities on airplanes, or in an automobile.
- Must be able to lift a box or package weighing 35 lbs.
Other Requirements
- Due to client requirements, candidate will be required to submit proof of current/recent Covid vaccination as a condition of employment. Candidate should be willing to update the vaccination program as required by the Federal, State and local governments.
- Candidate is required to have an active Driver’s License
- Some of our State governmental clients require us to submit verification of citizenship for all MGMP staffers. Therefore, candidate will be required to submit verification of US citizenship through e-Verify, and pass a background check
Work Location
In or near Albuquerque, NM, in a work-from-home situation, with as-needed visits to the Founding Partner’s office in Albuquerque. All job training will either be conducted online from the Managing Partner’s office or in person at the Founding Partner’s office.
Some project-based travel will be required, within the US.
Work Hours
This is a full-time position, but at times the Project Coordinator may need to work longer hours due to project requirements or to meet deadlines.
Salary & Benefits
The starting salary for this position is $50,000-$60,000 per year. Salary is commensurate with experience.
After a six-month probationary period, MGMP will provide an annual $5,000 benefits stipend to be applied at employee’s discretion.
After the six-month probationary period, MGMP will provide 1 day of paid vacation per month of employment, with paid vacation days accruing over time.
