Supporting the Environment Agency’s digital transformation objectives, having a modern, fit for purpose permit stock is key to effective regulation. We are looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to establish, develop and lead on an exciting permit modernisation programme within the National Permitting Service.

The successful candidate will need to be a motivated self-starter who can efficiently form robust processes, effective governance frameworks and can analyse and understand large and often complex datasets. A capable leader who understands the regulatory cycle, can collaborate, and communicate constructively with a variety of key stakeholders, and understands the needs of the entities we regulate.

Primary duties include:

  • Setting programme goals, tasks, and timelines, reviewing progress, and adjusting where necessary
  • Formulating, organising, and monitoring interconnected workstreams
  • Developing and improving processes
  • Managing the integrity of large data sets
  • Ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders, producing, and delivering progress reports for senior leadership
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues
  • Establishing, scaling-up and leading an operational delivery unit

The team

Working within the National Permitting Services’ – Water Quality Regime Technical Team, you will join an experienced unit of Permitting Process Technical Specialists and Senior Permitting Officers who work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation.

This role is an assignment opportunity with a likelihood of being extended based on effectiveness of delivery.

Relevant qualifications in project/programme management and line management experience are desirable.
