The Local Digital team at DLUHC supports councils across England to deliver the local public services of the future – services that meet the needs of citizens and deliver better value for money, based on modern technology and new, collaborative ways of working. We’re building upon the ambition of the Local Digital Declaration – our vision for the future of local public services that has been co-signed by over 300 local councils, sector bodies and Government departments.
We have recently announced exciting next steps for the programme following the increase announced at Budget and Spending Review last year.
The project support and admin officer will work closely with the collaboration managers to support funded projects and undertake administrative tasks to support Local Digital and DLUHC’s objectives.
We’re looking for a project officer who is comfortable with working with different teams and external organisations such as local authorities to support project delivery. You will have experience of working in a digital team, taking ownership of various administrative tasks and showing initiative to improve how our projects are supported.
Job description
- Manage Local Digital Declaration signatories, ensuring new applications are processed in a timely manner and that existing signatory list is kept up to date
- Manage relevant Local Digital mailboxes, responding to queries or passing them on to the correct people in the team
- Own finance processes for releasing funding to our funded projects, skills, training and administration of programme budget
- Support our funded projects with project management work, leading the development of some component assets, like business case materials and guidance for which the standard or tool is being developed.
- Keep our stakeholders up to date by contributing to blog or website content and working with communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging
- Help us track our progress, reporting periodically on the impact and lessons learnt from the projects you’re working on
- Support business improvement, ensuring our processes are continuously iterated and improved
- Contribute to organising and supporting the delivery of Local Digital funding rounds and assessments of project outputs
- Communication support: help communicate the benefit of the projects we undertake.
Person specification
Essential
- Strong communications skills (both written and oral) to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally using different channels
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and be able to prioritise competing demands
- Experience working on Agile or Digital projects
Desirable
- Knowledge of Government Service Standard
- Knowledge or experience of local and central government
- Experience with financial processes and administration
- Experience working with teams who work out in the open e.g. sprint notes, blogs, social media.

HEO salary
- The salary for this role is £30,792 (National).
- For existing civil servants, the usual policy on level transfer and promotion will apply and is non-negotiable.

Internal Fraud Database
The Internal Fraud function of the Fraud, Error, Debt and Grants Function at the Cabinet Office processes details of civil servants who have been dismissed for committing internal fraud, or who would have been dismissed had they not resigned.The Cabinet Office receives the details from participating government organisations of civil servants who have been dismissed, or who would have been dismissed had they not resigned, for internal fraud. In instances such as this, civil servants are then banned for 5 years from further employment in the civil service. The Cabinet Office then processes this data and discloses a limited dataset back to DLUHC as a participating government organisations. DLUHC then carry out the pre employment checks so as to detect instances where known fraudsters are attempting to reapply for roles in the civil service. In this way, the policy is ensured and the repetition of internal fraud is prevented.

Fixed Term Detail
For external candidates– you will be offered a 23 Month fixed term appointment with a possibility of permanency.
For existing civil servants – you will be offered a 23 Month loan opportunity. Before applying for the role, you will need to seek approval from your parent department to take up a loan appointment should you be successful.
For DLUHC employees - you will retain your existing contract
