We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our team on a fixed term contract. This role offers great exposure working on interesting and vital projects where you will be the direct liaison between the project and finance teams. This is a hybrid role with remote working and some onsite presence in our central Leeds office.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

About the role


As Project Accountant, you’ll deliver analytical financial modelling to support the evaluation and delivery of projects. The role also contributes expertise, insight and guidance to the continual improvement of financial processes to support the Society in delivering its strategic objectives. You will -

  • Business Partner with key stakeholders to develop financial processes, reporting and project support

  • Provide accurate and timely information to support and guide the project team in relation to finance requirements and inputs

  • Input into development of financial processes to ensure their efficiency and accuracy

  • Support other colleagues in the Finance department during peak periods for the delivery of outstanding service

  • Assist the Accounting and Finance Systems teams with project deliverables

  • Proactively participate in all significant decisions affecting the project working on behalf of Finance, you will carry out critical follow-up of all commercial and financial activity at every stage of the project

  • Lead the development and rollout of process improvements across the finance team, system development, internal processes, and procedures to ensure the finance team can respond to business requirements in line with project deliverables


About you

You’ll have a proven track record in a Project Accountant role, with experience of working to tight deadlines and a high attention to detail. You will have –

  • Accounting qualification (CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA) or equivalent

  • Experience of finance project work with a track record of problem solving and process enhancement

  • Proven skills in building positive and open relationships with the ability to work well in a team environment and with many different stakeholders
