Reporting to our Senior VP, Finance, as our Junior Project Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the finance team with project accounting daily tasks.

Your Main Responsibilities will include:

Reconciliation of Projects

  • Matching expenses and billings against client budgets to ensure the billing is complete and that expenses that have been charged/ invoiced to the clients have been paid
  • Consulting with the General Accountant and/or Project Managers to ensure all expenses are submitted to their assigned projects, to ensure accurate financial review of all active projects
  • Responding to email requests from Project Managers for reconciliation/close out of projects. Identifying outstanding expenses and invoices from suppliers and vendors, for project management review
  • Consulting with the Senior VP, Finance, and Management team to determine accuracy for final reconciliation of projects
  • Setting up and opening new projects along with generating reports that support the Project Delivery team

Month-End Reporting

  • Aiding with the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and expense analysis
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly profitability and Utilization Reporting
  • Maintaining licence costs allocation schedules

Expense Reports

  • Reviewing expense reports to ensure coding accuracy
  • Managing schedules for employee advances on an ongoing basis

What you’ll need to exceed:

  • A College, bachelor’s degree, or post-graduate degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
  • One year of project accounting or finance experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and systems necessary to support the analysis and reporting of financial information
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities to meet project deadlines, and juggles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality concerning financial and client files, escalates issues when appropriate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for working in a team environment
  • A self-starter mindset; demonstrates initiative and ownership of responsibilities
  • Self-direction with integrity, positive attitude, confidence, speed, and with a passion for SDM’s vision, mission, and values
