The goal at XR Games is to be the best developer of VR titles in the world.
We are a multi award-winning game development studio that specialises in immersive VR games. The studio has a history of full-scale development from concept through to submission, working with prestigious partners such as Sony Pictures VR, Meta, and Rovio Entertainment.
Since 2020 our team has grown from 20 full-time members to almost 100 by the close of 2022, due to the success and critical acclaim of our previous projects such as Zombieland: Headshot Fever and The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure.
Throughout 2023 & 2024 our team will be working on multiple major projects with recognisable IPs and licences as we continue to grow and invest in our future.
The Role
We’re now looking for a programmer who can use their skills and experience to elevate our team and our future projects.
Reporting to the Head of Programming, you will be involved in a wide variety of activities, while taking a wider view of the team to help identify opportunities to optimise workflow and technology. You will be the go-to person for the team to talk about career progression planning, performance feedback and any other people focused activities within the Programming department.
Responsibilities:
- Initiating project set up
- Conducting code reviews within the team
- Managing the internal R&D team
- Take lead on mentoring initiatives
- Conduct pair programming sessions
- Performing code and resources planning
- Collaborating with the People functions within the business to streamline onboarding, recruitment and interdepartmental communication
- Organising documentation
- Taking care of the department “admin” (accounts, licences, purchase requests etc.)
Are you the right person:
The right person for this role will already be in a senior programming role with extensive game development experience, this role will provide you with the opportunity to step into a management position. While you will come from a background of coding video games in C#. This role will be less hands-on with coding and will focus more on leadership, management, mentorship and production.
Core Skills/Experience:
- Proven experience within the Games industry
- High level technical ability
- Experience leading and mentoring teams, including people line management
- Adaptable to ad-hoc tasks
For this role to be successful, we will require the person to have a regular presence in the studio every week. Hybrid working is standard, and we will assist financially with relocation for those looking to do so, but remote working is not possible for this role.
