Your New Role...


We, at CNN Digital, are looking to recruit a highly skilled Programmatic Operations Manager who has experience in operating multiple and varied programmatic and data platforms. You will be responsible for commercialising large volumes of inventory throughout the world using smart and cutting edge programmatic and audience targeting solutions.


CNN Digital is the world leader in online news and information and seeks to inform, engage and empower the world. Staffed 24 hours, seven days a week by a dedicated team in CNN bureaus around the world, CNN’s digital platforms deliver news from almost 4,000 journalists in every corner of the globe.

Your Role Accountabilities...


This role will help drive the programmatic strategy to ensure the technology platforms are synced with demand & delivery sources and working in a manner that ensures two key functions:


The selling of desktop & mobile display and video impressions is maximised in terms of volume / STR and eCPM using programmatic technology


The delivery of audience targeted campaigns are optimised to perform and meet client goals and expectations and provide CNN with margin and profit – both programmatically and directly


Duties will include:

  • Own, deliver and manage programmatic advertising campaigns and related content across designated inventory

  • Drive demand partners ensuring they are interacting with DFP Dynamically and efficiently to maximise revenue through fill rate and eCPM and support the optimization of the stack

  • Work closely with the internal teams ensuring inventory is dynamically allocated to maximise yield.

  • Own and Deliver on BI platforms generating business insights and actioned against owned data.

  • Evaluation of new prospective programmatic demand partners and technology suppliers to develop potential business relationships.

  • Operation, including: go to market strategy; ad tech, ad agency trading desk, marketer partnership development and management; sales and pricing strategy; inventory/waterfall management; and short and long term business planning.

  • Maximising all yield and fill rates – taking lead responsibility in driving highest possible CPMs for display inventory.

  • Weekly/quarterly & annually revenue forecasting and reporting with the Head of Programmatic

  • Working closely and collaboratively with the Creative Suite for all programmatic activation and leading efficiencies

  • Key performance metrics will focus on margin / eCPM improvements, fill rate increase and operational efficiencies, thus being able to analyse large data sets from partner platforms and make timely business decisions is key to the role.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • 5+ years’ experience working within programmatic advertising – media agency or publisher (digital)

  • Hands on using SPP technology such as Rubicon, AdX, PubMatic and how we can manipulate towards business OKR’s

  • Knowledge of using DMP technology or a good understanding of a DMP capabilities

  • A good understanding of Ad Servers – DFP experience essentials

  • Technically minded but with an understanding the tech delivers commercial solutions

  • Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail, with the ability to analyse and extract information from a large dataset and interpret information to make business decisions

  • Experience Managing BI tools
