This new full time post is available immediately until 14/06/2024 on a fixed term contract to lead on the implementation of the University’s Network Refresh Programme.
This role offers the opportunity for remote working – Mainly from home with occassional time on campus.

Summary of the role/position
Are you an experienced Digital and IT Programme Manager with Network Refresh Programmes? We are looking for a Programme Manager to lead on Digital and IT Programme teams to ensure the successful delivery of Programmes of change. The Programmes will be defined by the IT & Digital strategies and you will need to be able to maximise the opportunities to realise the intended benefits. The right individual will be able to identify and manage the complex matrix of inter-project dependencies.
The role:
- Deliver Digital and IT services to the University that boost transformation and unlock modern ways of working.
- Support senior leaders in Colleges and Services to see lasting benefits from the Digital and IT tools and capabilities that Exeter IT delivers.
- Accountable for the delivery of new IT services within large and small programmes, ensuring appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, and responsible for managing the programme budget on behalf of the Senior Responsible Owner.
- Act as an internal partner to commissioning stakeholders in Exeter IT and the business and support the development of commercially robust business cases through to the point of delivery.
- Working with IT Business Partners, engage in strategic and operational relationship management with key stakeholders developing trust and credibility in the delivery of IT programmes of change.
- Responsible for the overall analytical approach to the Programmes, source and analyse data in line with strategic objectives, undertaking data analysis and options appraisal, drawing conclusion and actionable recommendations to senior leadership groups.
- Support the transition of the new Digital and IT services ensuring appropriate change management interventions are in place including communications and training.
- Responsible for managing resources in a matrix environment, setting measurable goals and performance targets for programme and project teams, delivering results and report against these to demonstrate progress, and ensure effective productivity of staff and quality delivery of outputs.
About you:
You will also need to have:
- Experience of managing large Digital and IT programmes.
- Experience of managing a programme to deliver and embed the use of digital services tools at scale in a Higher Education (HE) environment
- Recent experience of delivering a programme of changes and services in a HE environment, demonstrating business acumen, balancing financial, quality, people and customer expectations
- Experience of the full project life cycle and including product selection, resilience and recovery of services
- Proven leadership experience and managing teams in a matrix environment, setting performance standards and targets, creating communities, and motivating others
- Successful management of budgets and human resources in response to changing or conflicting demands
- Experience of managing organisational change within a team
- Experience of developing influential relationships with external partners and suppliers
- Proven experience of managing relationships within teams, evidencing ability to break down barriers and building beneficial working relationships
- Demonstrate experience of anticipating problems and making projections that impact the strategic direction of the service
- Proven experience of undertaking complex analysis, using different methodologies, and providing reports and management information with supporting commentary
- Experience in the identification and proactive mitigation of risks

The use of IT industry standard methods and frameworks will be utilised to ensure the effective management of change projects and initiatives to enable the intended benefits to be realised. Solutions Delivery also capitalises on the opportunities for IT-led innovation to support education, research and professional services.
