SUMMARY

UnidosUS is seeking a Program Specialist who can manage the various tasks, partnerships, and deliverables associated with different projects on the Workforce Development team, including grants management, ensuring compliance and completion of program deliverables, and performing data management and reporting. The Workforce Development team enables an ecosystem that supports Latinx individuals in their journey to thrive in the workforce and achieve economic prosperity through the work in the following areas: digital skills development, industry specific training, and systems change.

The Workforce Development develops innovative programs that move individuals along the spectrum of adult education through a pathway of digital skills development for job seekers and small business owners. In addition, the programs provide vocational training, soft skills development, and job placement for career advancement. Through our systems change initiatives we incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to improve hiring and training practices for stakeholders. The department implements programs funded through government grants, foundation grants, and corporate grants. Between 2018- 2021, the Workforce Development team has reached over 3,300 individuals.

The position reports to the Director of Adult Education and Workforce Development. The Program Specialist will be expected to participate in all Workforce Development team activities and events and support institutional goals and objectives. The position is hybrid, and is based in Washington, DC.


Salary: $52,776 - $59,875

Essential Functions

  • Support the overall implementation, operation, evaluation, and expansion of an industry specific training programs, Latinx in Sales and Latinx in Automotive
  • Assist and coordinate grant-related meetings including logistics planning, agenda-setting, and content delivery for both virtual and face-to-face events.
  • Provide targeted technical assistance and capacity building trainings to subgrantees; cultivate and support a Community of Practice by documenting and sharing best practices.
  • Maintain component spreadsheet that tracks all timelines and deliverables associated with the WFD team grants and projects and their required reporting.
  • Support report writing for funders using UnidosUS data sources.
  • Assist in the creation and preparation of content for communication with Affiliates, including e-newsletters, e-updates and blog postings.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate webinars for external stakeholders supporting program delivery and awareness.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders such as Marketing and Communications Team and Affiliate Engagement Team to ensure efficient communication across teams to achieve deliverables.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with various initiative stakeholders across work sectors.
  • Participate in relevant WFD and career pathways conferences and meetings.
  • Maintain an understanding of UnidosUS and its Affiliates, including relevant program initiatives, operational structure, history, and leadership.
  • Share responsibility in performing preliminary research and drafting WFD materials, such as evaluations, case studies, best practices, research documents, tools, white papers, newsletters and curricula.
  • Assist with the coordination of events, workshops, webinars, and meetings including preparation of documents, drafting agendas, and records of notes/minutes for both in-person and virtual events.
  • Support signature WFD team events, such as the biennial WFD Summit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years of professional workforce development, or related experience in non-profit, foundation, or corporate funding positions.
  • Experience with or knowledge of adult education and workforce development programs for adults.
  • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Latino community.
  • Understanding of the needs of the Latino/low-income, limited-skills workforce.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and professional attitude in representing UnidosUS and its partners to various audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to six times a year.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with industry specific WFD training, digital skills training and/or systems change preferred
  • Experience in customer service or automotive programs preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
