Department Purpose
As part of the Innovation & Technology Commercialization division in the UC Davis Office of Research, Venture Catalyst facilitates the translation of University research and technology by enabling the development of new ventures. Services and resources offered by Venture Catalyst include 1) proof-of-concept funding through the Science Translational & Innovative Research (STAIR) Grant program; 2) a suite of tools, resources, and services for early-stage startups; and 3) economic engagement activities to facilitate connections between startups and the regional innovation and economic development ecosystem.
Job Summary
The ACE Program Manager is responsible for coordinating grant-funded activities for the Aggies for Climate Equity (ACE) Program under the supervision of the Venture Catalyst Director and with general direction of the Principal Investigators (PI). In this capacity, the ACE Program Manager oversees the day-to-day management of the grant to meet project measures and deliverable outcomes in accordance with state/UC Office of the President (UCOP) regulations, grant/program requirements, and UC Davis policies and procedures.
This is an eighteen-month (hire date to March 2025) grant-funded contract position with the option for renewal based on resource availability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of experience managing projects in an educational, non-profit or corporate setting.
- Strong oral, written, organizational and interpersonal skills, with experience in community engagement and/or complex project management; demonstrates initiative, commitment to and experience in working diverse stakeholders; researches data and prepares reports; clearly presents ideas and concepts persuasively before groups and/or writing for publication
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of grant administration, organization, and project management.
- Demonstrates passion to detailed and complex project management; establishes and maintains effective working relations with others; meets schedules and timelines; plans, develops and administers programs; and analyzes situations accurately and adopts effective courses of action.
- Manages multi-phased integrated projects effectively and efficiently as well as delivery of desired program outcomes; coordinates and perform a variety of complex administrative and management duties; develops working technical knowledge of a variety of unrelated areas quickly and accurately; and works confidentially with discretion and independently with little direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Education in and/or experience with public policy, sociology, climate science-related fields, and/or environmental studies.
- Experience in having a leadership role in coalition-building, community advocacy, campaigns, educational programs, or similar initiatives to achieve a social and/or environmental impact
- Experience managing and executing upon grants, including program design and data collection, synthesis, and reporting.
- Experience with University of California and/or other experience within Higher Education institutions (“Working knowledge of UC Davis and community stakeholders involved in innovation and entrepreneurship and economic development, including local and regional environmental and social advocacy organizations”).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Demonstrated interest in commercialization and/or dissemination of innovations for impact
- Demonstrated interest in working to mitigate climate change and build resilience for communities most impacted by climate change
