The Work You Will Do:

The Employment Program Specialist is a member of the Adjudication team of the Division of Workforce Services. The individual holding this position must be able to communicate effectively with members of the public and interpret information gathered from these individuals to apply the law in determining employer chargeability and addressing employer benefit charge protests.

  • Reviews and interprets information in response to employer protest request.
  • Composes and issues written, unbiased determinations to interested parties concerning the claimant’s eligibility for benefits(non-monetary), the chargeability of employer experience rating account and the chargeability of employer reimbursable accounts.

Answers inquiries from employers, Claims and Benefits Offices, governmental agencies and other interested parties concerning the RA program, individual claims, and application of the Florida RA Law.

Pay: $34,288.60 – $35,175.00 Annually


Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible position requiring extensive knowledge of reemployment assistance (RA) law and departmental procedures. The incumbent is responsible for several complex programmatic functions performed within reemployment assistance programs relating to claimant eligibility and employer chargeability. The incumbent requires knowledge of the reemployment assistance program and the ability to work cooperatively with others within the program.


Identifies and resolves problems in the daily operations of the offices of the reemployment assistance program. Analyze problem areas and recommends any changes needed to improve streamline existing procedures. Assists and coordinates implementation of new procedures.


Assists in providing programmatic training and technical assistance to associates relative to the reemployment assistance program. Assists in developing training materials and procedures.


Reviews determinations and appeal decisions to ensure federal, state and department guidelines and measures are met. Responds and communicates to customers regarding employer chargeability.


Performs specialized work assignments including the preparation of reports, project analysis and correspondence.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of reemployment assistance law, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to reemployment assistance programs.
  • Ability to review reemployment assistance functions to measure effectiveness.
  • Ability to develop training materials and train others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.
