Hours: Evenings and Weekends
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, direction, and customer service to program instructors, assistants and volunteers;
- Facilitates and oversees current programs, leagues and special events
- Liaise with community partners, facility staff, instructors, conveners and Information Service Representatives;
- Ensures supplies and equipment are ready for all programs;
- Visits and provides support for pre-school, children, teen and adult programs;
- Assists with the preparation of each new programming season;
- Assists with leading P.L.A.Y. training for various elementary schools in the community
- Visits and assists in afterschool Programs in various elementary schools
- Participates in the recruitment of volunteers including orientation, interviews and qualifications screening
- Updates bulletin boards and other community advertisements
- Organizes participant program evaluation packages and distribute them to participants
- Completes assessments using the High Five Quest 2 Tool
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Recreation or related field is an asset
- Minimum age of 16 years of old at the start of employment
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Experience assisting with overseeing and facilitating programs.
- Some previous administrative experience performing routine transactions and administrative tasks where attention to detail is required
- Demonstrated leadership skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Superior customer service and communication skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- High Five certification
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
- High Five Quest 2 is an asset
