We are looking to recruit a Profile Operator to join our Workshop Team at Sparrows in Aberdeen, UK.
The work scope includes but is not limited to completing various tasks including interpretation of technical drawings, inputting data using CAD and operating the profile cutter as required on projects undertaken within the Tern workshop facility.
Main responsibilities
- Checking and preparing all drawings and data for input.
- The safe handling of materials and equipment in the profile shed.
- To be responsible for visually checking their work before QA inspection.
- To be able to check equipment prior to and after use highlighting any faults/defects to the workshop supervision.
- To be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the machines.
- To control steel stock by updating records when using materials.
- Completing fabrication works in line with competencies.
- To ensure stock tag nos. remains marked on the unused materials returned to the steel racks.
- Completing forklift driver assessments informally and logging all results
- Controlling all pipe and plate stock for Fabrication workshop
HSEQ responsibilities
- It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
- The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.
Qualifications and experience
- Knowledge of CNC profiling is essential i.e. Laser / Plasma / Waterjet.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and interpreting Engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as but not limited to tape measures, Vernier callipers is essential.
- Understanding of different material grades is essential.
