Position Summary:
The School of Education seeks candidates who have academic qualifications and proven experience in the preferred areas of Early Childhood Education, SPED
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the development and education in Early Childhood, Literacy, and/or SPED, clinical teachers.
- Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regularly posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D./Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field.
- Must have academic qualification (at least 18 credit hours at the master’s level or higher) in Early Childhood and/or Literacy, and/or SPED.
- Minimum five years of public or private school teaching experience in the U.S. in K-12.
- Texas certification or equivalent certification in Early Childhood, EC-6 Elementary Education/Literacy and/or SPED is preferred.
- The successful candidate will also be able to articulate a vision for the role of his or her discipline at HCU in light of the University’s Christian identity, mission, and philosophy of higher education as articulated in the “Ten Pillars” in the University’s Foundational Documents (https://hc.edu/about-hbu/ten-pillars/).
