Job description
The University of Texas at Dallas Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the area of Islamic Visual or Performing Arts. This is a one-year, non-tenure-system faculty position, renewable for a second consecutive academic year. The position would start with the Fall 2023 semester, for a maximum term of two years.
Qualifications
The Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) undergraduate Program offers aspiring artists and performers an interdisciplinary study of the arts, allowing students to select courses in historical context, studio practice, performance ensemble, communication studies, and ideas and interpretation of the arts. The undergraduate VPA program includes several program options associated with concentrations in the visual arts, art history, communication studies, dance, theatre, film studies, music, photo-video-digital arts, or the interdisciplinary arts. Master’s and doctoral programs in the Visual and Performing Arts are interdisciplinary. While they do not offer specific concentrations like the undergraduate program, students can specialize in a particular discipline or combination of focus areas, such as visual art, art history, film studies, performing arts, photo-video-digital, etc.

- cover letter and full curriculum vitae summarizing their interests and their qualifications for the position;
- statement of teaching philosophy describing (at a minimum) their conceptualizations of teaching and learning and their teaching and assessment methods, including how these are informed by evidence-based pedagogical practices; and

Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes;
Contribute assessment information and data as requested;
Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints;
Teach six (6) classes each academic year.
