Department
Warwick Medical School, Biomedical Sciences
Salary
£44,414 - 52,841 per annum.
Location
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) campus
Vacancy Overview
Permanent, full-time position. 36.5 hours per week.
We seek outstanding scientists investigating aspects of human reproductive biomedicine at the molecular, cellular, or tissue scales. Research areas of particular interest include tissue and organ dynamics, organoid development, embryology, endometriosis, and pregnancy disorders. Researchers with expertise in other biomedical research disciplines will also be considered.
The successful candidate will be based in the Clinical Sciences Research Laboratories (CSRL), located on our University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) campus. The CSRL provides excellent laboratory facilities and access to human tissue samples from the Tommy’s National Reproductive Health Biobank. Close interactions with the Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) and Biomedical Research Unit in Reproductive Health (BRU-RH) provide access to IVF material and a robust pathway for clinical translation. Additional state-of-the-art research facilities, including advanced proteomics, microscopy, flow cytometry, genomic and bioinformatic /computational platforms, are located on the Gibbet Hill campus.
The Medical School’s Division of Biomedical Sciences has 41 principal investigators with world-class strength in mechanochemical cell biology, microbiology, immunology and reproductive biomedicine. This position is expected to add to growth in reproductive biomedicine. Our work spans discovery and translational science. Interdisciplinary research approaches are encouraged and facilitated through the Centre for Early Life, which brings together experts from across the University of Warwick, including Warwick Medical School, Warwick Mathematics Institute, and the Departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Psychology, and Statistics. The Centre is a hub of multidisciplinary expertise, pioneering research that will lead to more successful pregnancies, better health for parents and children, and new treatments and tests.
The candidate is also expected to contribute to postgraduate supervision and teaching, alongside participating in the development and delivery of our two new undergraduate courses; MSci Integrated Science and BSc Health & Medical Sciences.
To be considered, please fill out the online application, including a curriculum vitae, the names of three expert referees and a two-page statement describing an ambitious research programme in reproductive biomedicine. For five of your publications, please provide two to three sentences describing the discovery and why you believe it to be important and influential. Medically qualified applicants who wish to maintain their clinical practice should make the case within their application for how this would enhance their scientific research.
Confidential informal enquiries regarding the position may be made to: Professors Jan Brosens ([email protected]) or Anne Straube ([email protected]), Head, Division of Biomedical Sciences.
We encourage all applicants to access the brochure link for more detailed information regarding this role.
Interview Date: TBC.
