Job description
Home Instead is the world’s leading provider of non-medical care and companionship services for older people. With minimum visits of one hour, award winning training and an excellent reputation we are immensely proud of the quality of care we provide. Our mission is to brighten the lives of seniors; giving them a sense of purpose, wellbeing & worth.
The UK's number 1 home care provider, Home Instead have an office in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent and have partnered with the award winning education provider, Acacia Training. Together we have designed a new and exclusive specialised five year employment programme, named the "Professional Care Pathway".
The programme takes you on an academic employment journey towards guaranteed career progression and has been strategically designed to focus on your self-development as care professional. Our university-level QCF qualifications and specialised modules will present senior role opportunities, and an additional successful year on the course would add a teaching qualification to your portfolio.
It’s been devised to transform how home care workers are perceived, raising standards and providing professional qualifications to degree level and beyond.
The comprehensive programme gives home care workers the chance to learn at different levels over a maximum of six years. Those who chose to train into Year 5 will gain QCF level 5 qualifications, equivalent to completing year 2 of a degree course, while care professionals choosing to continue to Year 6 will receive a trainer qualification.
The programme builds year on year, with the opportunity of studying different care for Home Instead clients in the community. For example, a QCF Level 2 health and social care qualification in Year 1 together with City & Guilds certification in areas such as Dementia and End of Life. Level 3 qualifications are available in Year 2, along with Parkinson's Champion certificate and various Home Instead Professional modules.
In Year 3, the main focus of the pathway is to enhance field experience; this will provide our Care Professionals with greater insight regarding which speciality they wish to pursue as their pathway progresses.
Home Instead already provides high quality tailored care, and the Professional Care Pathway builds on that. It allows participants to work a minimum of 25 hours per week (this can be reduced depending on experience), carefully structured around their availability with a pay rate of £11.20 - £12.20 per hour and a minimum of one hour per client visit. The role includes paid mileage, paid annual leave, pension scheme enrolment, double time on Bank Holidays and additional designated days, paid DBS and many other benefits.
Once qualified, Care Professionals could become Care Managers or Senior members of staff with a focus on their preferred speciality. They will have the ability to command higher levels of salary while driving up standards across the sector.
Current qualifications will be taken into consideration when agreeing at what point on the programme you can start and fast track options are available based on experience and your availability.
