Job Title: Production Operative
Reports to: Low Risk Manager & Supervisor
Overall purpose: To implement and follow all food safety and hygiene procedures, ensure quality assurance standards and best practice is adhered to at all stages of production.
Hours: Monday to Friday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Main activities:
- Working to complete agreed production targets, including helping to store, defrost, pack and cook products.
- Ensure that quality assurance standards and measures are adhered to in order to ensure food safety and best practice at all stages of production (i.e. hygiene, temperature checks, correct labelling, stock rotation etc.)
- Agree performance measures and quality assurance processes with team members that will clarify output and quality expectations.
- Maintain a pro-active, positive attitude to working in a department within which work needs may change rapidly in line with changing production targets.
- Attend team reviews of performance to agree with the Team Leader, Supervisor and Manager areas for improvement and actions required.
- Completing all relevant paperwork (Start-up sheets, Intake sheets, Batch cards, Product of origin forms)
Competencies:
- Knowledge and experience of the meat/food industry.
- An understanding of the industrial food machinery.
- Flexibility to work overtime as and when needed.
- An enthusiasm to develop own skills.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate highly desirable.

Salary: £10.90 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Wigan, WN3 4HX: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Food production: 1 year (preferred)
