LGC’s Clinical Diagnostics Business Unit develops and manufactures a comprehensive portfolio of catalogue and custom-developed diagnostic quality solutions and component materials for the extended life sciences industry. We partner with IVD assay developers, and pharmaceutical, CRO and academic institutions in commercialization activities across the entire diagnostic pipeline - from concept and early stage research, through expedited product development and onwards into routine clinical use. Laboratorians and diagnostic professionals across disciplines of clinical chemistry, immunochemistry, serology, molecular diagnostics and clinical genomics rely on LGC’s products to support accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
Our operating entities include The Native Antigen Company, which is a manufacturer and supplier of antigens and antibodies, which are key components in vaccine research, and for the accurate diagnosis of a wide range of infectious diseases. Alongside The Native Antigen Company, the Clinical Diagnostics Business Unit also includes SeraCare Life Sciences, Maine Standards Company and Technopath, which are in vitro diagnostics (IVD) manufacturers of quality measurement tools (calibrators, controls, linearity, EQA/PT, biological materials). Job Purpose
The Production Technician position will work within the Native Antigen Company Production Team to support the wider business demands, with a focus on manufacturing products in line with commercial requirements. Full training will be provided to build on the successful candidate’s existing laboratory skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities and Role Objectives
- Large scale production of viruses and bacteria as directed by the Senior Production team
- Recombinant protein production and purification
- Plasmid cloning and bulk production
- Aliquoting of products in line with Commercial Team requirements
- Adherence to Batch Production Protocols and SOPs
- Accurate recording of batch production information
- Running QC assays
- Maintaining stock levels and databases
- Receiving deliveries and following the company ‘Goods In’ SOP as and when required
Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills
- Excellent attention to detail and good administration skills
- Ability to understand and follow SOPs

Education and/or Experience
- Science-based degree, or equivalent experience working in a laboratory
- Experience using basic IT programs, primarily Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent attention to detail and good administration skills.
- Desire to support other team members when required to help the overall business function
- Good organisational skills, and ability to manage time effectively.
- Experience working with BSL 2 pathogens would be beneficial, but is not a requirement of the job.
