Job description

The Ultra manufacturing function is responsible for the manufacture, integration and test of a wide range of products and systems providing innovative capabilities for our customers.

The Assembly function in Ultra assembles and wires difficult and complex assemblies, using drawings, operation sets and engineering documents. The Test function will test, fault find and identify the repair to be undertaken on a range of products to meet our customer commitments in terms of quality and timescales. It ensure that the units under test have passed all the parameters as laid down in the Product Test Schedule before releasing.
The role holder manages a small administrative, technical or operational team, allocating work, supervising the activities of others and managing performance.

Job purpose:

To manage & lead an operations team.
Manage Holidays, sickness, time keeping & discipline across the team to ensure no loss of production
Working with the Production Manager to deliver an agreed monthly plan
Monitor the team’s performance using agreed KPI’s
Manage, monitor & review labour bookings (workbench)
Hold Daily team meetings to review progress against the plan & update the team to known issues
Assist in the creation of shop order paperwork as required, including Routecards
Close completed shop orders & move parts into stock
Support with all quality issues, triage, MRB’s including all IFS and paperwork required
Scanning of completed paperwork onto the companies MRP system
Ensure an effective 6S and FOD program is run throughout the team
Work with the Production Manager to identify skills gaps & maintain a skills matrix for the team
Work with cross functional support teams to manage non-conforming materials, general production issues & ensure timely resolution
Ensure safe use and management of equipment and machinery
Manage & justify any overtime required in advance to the Production Manager
To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably requested

Key responsibilities:

Report to the Production Manager on all aspects of the team’s performance
Create a healthy & motivating work environment for the team
Listen to team members & resolve any issues & conflicts
To be able manage their own time in an effective manner
Carry out individual performance & development reviews for all team members on a monthly / quarterly basis to ensure adherence to agreed KPI’s.
Carry out individual performance & self-development reviews for all team members
Maintain awareness & attend training courses as required
Always adhere to Company Procedure

Advantageous Skills

Proven CI capability / Lean Manufacturing experience
3 years’ experience within an Aerospace/Defence environment.
General awareness of IPC workmanship standards
Previous experience working with an MRP system

Qualifications/Experience:

Previous experience in a Production supervisor or similar role leading a small team
Self-motivated and organised with a results driven approach
Good Communication and Interpersonal skills
Experience with use of MS Office applications

Security Clearance:

Candidates must be eligible for BPSS Security Clearance
