Are you an experienced Production Supervisor looking for a new challenge? I have a newly created role working for a highly respected manufacturing business in the Nottinghamshire area. They have been established for many years and are working with an assortment of interesting industries. In recent years they have expanded the business and invested heavily in their Machine Shop. There will be endless advancement opportunities you'd expect from a multi-national industry leader and you will have a significant contribution to your shift throughout the plant and have full autonomy in the development of your team. This is working a Double Days shift, M-F 6am to 2pm and M-F 2pm to 10pm finishing at 8pm on a Friday. Salary banding is between £40k to £45k with an annual bonus, company pension, Life Insurance, ongoing training and development, on-site canteen, on-site gym.
Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor:
- The Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for the overall safety, quality and productivity of the production areas ensuring on-time delivery while maintaining cost of goods to budget plans.
- Will foster engaged employees that drives continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma principles such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and DMAIC process, ensuring the optimal utilisation of employees, equipment and material according to all order fulfilment requirements - quality, timeliness and cost Essential Duties/Responsibilities.
- Plan and manage the daily operation of assigned department(s), including the daily management and maintenance of staffing levels (direct/contract) and budget accountability to accomplish plant objectives in an effective and efficient manner
- Provide necessary training and reinforcement to workforce to ensure they understand and can apply the skills required to produce quality products according to customer requirements.
- Administer Company rules, regulations & safety policies, initiating and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide direction, and strength of Leadership, initiating communication and working cross functionally across all levels, collaborating between shifts/departments on a consistent basis. Address issues and maintains availability to operators to answer questions as required.
- Actively analyse department performance against metrics and identify opportunity for continuous improvement. Creates, posts and communicates to ensure everyone understands their role in achieving plant commitments.
- Guide workforce in the compliance to Standard Work, recommends improvements in Work Instructions, methods, processes, policies and equipment and ensures operators are informed.
Requirements of the Production Supervisor:
- Experienced Production Supervisor in manufacturing, including exposure to leading/directing the work of others. Direct supervision experience is essential
- Previous experience in a lean manufacturing environment
- Highly desirable would be someone who has supervised a Machine Shop and has the experience working within a CNC machine Shop environment.
- Six Sigma certification preferred
- Served a full apprenticeship or be qualified to HNC/HND level in Manufacturing. Degree would highly desirable but not essential
- Metric driven/analytical problem solving skills
