Job Title: Production Supervisor - 4-day a week
Location: Fishponds, Bristol
Permanent - 40 hours Monday-Thursday 1.35pm-12.15am
Salary: £32,000.00 per annum
gap personnel Bristol are operating as an employment business and currently are working with a specialist manufacturer based In Fishponds to recruit a Production Supervisor to join their company on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for 15–20 operatives.
Job Purpose:
- Lead and motivate the production team ensuring H&S guidelines are adhered.
- Review team performance regularly to identify areas for improvement and encourage progress of individual team members through performance reviews.
- Ensure all site specific, Quality, Housekeeping, Operational procedures & Hygiene standards are always adhered to.
- Monitor all required shift documentation ensuring accurately completed for compliance against BRC and operational quality standard targets met.
- Ensure regular communication/briefing to provide the team with the relevant information to carry out their shift to maximum effect. Carry out site safety inspections and assist audits to supply H&S committee.
- Develop and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through the continuous improvement process with the objective of exceeding the KPI targets.
- From WO due dates, plan m/c loading to meet customer requirements.
- Quantify plan and organise resources (labour and materials) to meet WO due dates.
- Improve the overall team working practices by developing / training individuals within the team and cross functionally within production.
- Take an active role as part of the broader shop-floor team.
- Assist in the anticipated growth and development of the shop-floor operation and continuous improvement orientated.
Specific responsibilities
- Issue of material from stock to meet the production plan.
- Planning machine "loading" to meet the production plan and ensuring production orders are completed through all manufacturing, sub-contract, and inspection operations (where appropriate), to meet specific customer requirements.
- Resource planning and involvement in the selection / recruitment of new team members.
- Encourage quality awareness in the team and the desire to not merely meet requirements, but to exceed them. Ensure all quality systems, procedures and specification documents are adhered to and assist in the development and implementation of systems improvements.
- Ensure safe methods of work are adopted. All staff to comply with the Health and Safety Policy and all relevant Work Instructions, Operating Systems and Procedures. Ensure safety equipment is used as required, particularly machine guards and personal protective safety equipment.
- Organise team to suit planned production with optimum efficiency, liaising with the Operations and Continuous Improvement Manager to develop the plan and the organisation necessary to meet it - shifts, overtime, resources etc. Review progress regularly
- Ensure production records (Works Job Sheet, time sheets, computer bookings etc.) are maintained and accurate. Product must be counted, and bookings made after each operation or shift is completed.
- Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained to agreed plans. Liaise with production engineering and quality departments as necessary.
- Communicate with Team regularly/thoroughly to ensure common goals.
- Ensure team members are trained to adequate levels to undertake duties required. Get involved personally with "on the job" training.
- Flexible working hours to cover holiday of other members and business needs.
- Carry out appraisals and create development plans for all team members. Identify any skill shortages and propose any necessary recruitment.
- Assist in the development of tooling, processes and instructions working closely with Operation Continuous Manager & Maintenance Engineers.
- Liaise with Development / Process Engineering, Quality and Projects departments as appropriate regarding issues relating to product specification.
- Support the Quality Assurance team, providing Production input activities.
- Visitor/Customer tour guide when required (occasional).
- Actively work on continuous improvement - efficiency, quality, organisation, housekeeping.
- Maintain discipline to agreed standards.
Knowledge and experience
- Team Leadership/Supervisory role within a manufacturing environment - 3 years
- Used to working within a formal quality system.
- Computerised stock control and manufacturing information system
