Production Supervisor

Our Timber Systems division is the UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of timber frame building solutions, specialising in off-site construction. We work on over 350 live projects per year, supporting customers on-site and building timber kits across our two bespoke factories in Westhill - Aberdeenshire, Witney - Oxfordshire and in an additional hub space in Falkirk. We have regional offices in Aberdeenshire, Glasgow and Witney and the team operate across several sectors including, private housing, affordable housing, student accommodation, medical facilities, hotels, and education. Working with market-leading precision-engineered build systems, architects, surveyors and design teams, the division delivers noticeable benefits for our clients.

Our services cover concept design information and technical guidance, full design service, manufacture, delivery and construction on site.
The role
Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be a key member of the Manufacturing Team responsible for optimisation of the production facility. You will have the opportunity to use your people and general management skills to provide clear site direction to the main manufacturing operations. This role would offer further opportunity for personal development in line with the company’s commitment to development of its people.
In keeping with the specific importance given to Health & Safety and the Environment by Donaldson Timber Systems, you will also have specific accountabilities as set out in our Corporate Responsibility for Health & Safety and Environmental Policy.
Accountabilities
· Deliver, through your team, the production plan with pre agreed targets from the Manufacturing /Factory Manager:
o Output levels
o Quality
o Health & Safety (including employee welfare)
o Customer satisfaction
o Budget
· Report timeously to the Manufacturing/Factory Manager any risk of achieving (1) above with suggested solutions to mitigate each risk.
· Maintain a safety focused culture across your department, and ensure that management systems (ISO 9001; ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) are followed.
· Ensure appropriate training needs for each team member is identify and training is delivered
· Plan and monitor team performance to ensure high availability for work to deliver performance, quality; health & safety; customer requirements and productivity to agreed target.
· Optimise utilisation of production machinery and waste management to meet productivity, health & safety, quality; customer satisfaction and financial targets.
· Identify elements within your areas of responsibility that could be improved
· Ensure effective operation of areas within your responsibility from material flow through manufacturing (sawing, auto lines, manual lines, sub assembly) of a quality product to being despatched on time in full.
· Ensure employee resource and working patterns are matched in terms of skills and numbers to short and long term production plan
· Build effective working relationships with relevant departments, within and outwith the factory to maximise delivery of (1)
· Provide support and cover for the Manufacturing Manager, Logistics Manager & Material Control Manager.
Essential Technical Expertise
· Demonstrate thorough knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices within a manufacturing environment
· Demonstrate ability for production & resource planning and productivity within a manufacturing environment
· Knowledge of using ERP system
· Proficient in Microsoft office (particularly spreadsheets)
· Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing
· Knowledge of Quality Management Systems in manufacturing environment
