An exciting opportunity has arisen at the UK's leading airline caterer. We have a need to fill our vacancy for a Production Supervisor at our London Heathrow (Heston) site. Role Purpose
A Production Supervisor ensures the smooth running of processes on a production floor. Their duties include overseeing routine production activities, troubleshooting and solving issues that arise on a production floor and ensuring a safe and clean production workspace.
Production Supervisors are responsible for the on-time and efficient delivery of quality products on a production floor. These professionals continuously monitor and improve production processes to ensure maximum output, cost efficiency and safe working conditions. A large part of the job involves the training and management of a production team. Production Supervisors plan work schedules provide guidance for production team members and take disciplinary action when needed. They also report on a team’s performance to a Production Manager and make recommendations regarding ways to improve employee efficiency and job satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
The duties of a Production Supervisor differ depending on factors like the industry and the size of a manufacturing company. Those who work for smaller manufacturers typically have a wider range of responsibilities, which may include tasks that a Production Manager would normally handle. In generally, the day-to-day tasks of a Production Supervisor include:
- Ensuring that production processes are in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately completing all necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Informing a production team of preferred occupational health and safety practices.
- Communicating expectations to production team members and evaluating their performance.
- Implementing relevant emergency response procedures during emergency situations.
- Regularly checking the machinery and checkpoints to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
- Compiling reports about production and providing management with updates.
- Managing the repair or replacement of faulty production equipment.
- Ensuring all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly.
What you’ll have:
Apart from monitoring the equipment and goods on a production floor, Production Supervisors interact with people throughout their working day. The job involves building effective work relationships with other departments, reporting to management and overseeing a production team, so Production Supervisors must have excellent interpersonal skills.
