A Production Store Assistant is required for a PERMANENT (Part time) role paying £24,391.58 (Pro rata salary £13,184.64) per annum with the British Transport Police (BTP) based in Edinburgh.
BTP is the national police Force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, including London Underground, across which we ensure the safety and security of nearly 3 billion passenger journeys and over 100 million tons of freight every year. The world in which we work is fast-paced, operationally and commercially demanding, and constantly changing. As a Production Store Assistant with BTP you will be responsible for all matters related to the property store. Accurately recording and storing of all seized property. Provide advice and guidance to Police officers in respect of properly packaging and storing of evidence and the timescales that the property can be retained. Handling large amounts of cash and ensuring it is stored in a safe and secure manner which involves arranging for larger amounts to be transferred to the area banking facility.
As Production Store Assistant you will be required to:
- Being responsible for the destruction of all the drugs seized on area through the drugs disposal unit at Police Scotland
- Handling and safely storing of firearms and ammunition within the secure cabinets held in the store.

BTP has undertaken a review of Police Staff pensions and as a result of this the Police Staff pension will be changing. The current police staff pension is a Defined Benefit scheme which is administered by the Railways Pension scheme. The new pension scheme which is launching is a Defined Contribution scheme which is administered by Royal London. The new pension scheme is awaiting formal approval and an introductory date is not finalised. The earliest this will be is June 2023.
