Cawingredients supply high volume soft drinks principally to the UK market. We operate from a state of the art production and warehousing facility based on one site in North Yorkshire.

The role involves operating automated production (repackaging) lines. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the machinery, ‘troubleshooting’ and seeking solutions to any breakdowns.
Working under the direction of the Robot Manager, you will need to be an engaging, enthusiastic warehouse operator, fast learner, and capable of carrying out counterbalance fork-lift duties, ideally with a mechanical or engineering background (although not essential).
As an operator within the mixing department, you will also be required to perform other warehouse duties when needed.
Working Hours
4 on 4 off shift pattern, 12 hour shifts 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am, 2,166 annualised hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Operate and oversee the running of the production line;
· Undertake basic routine maintenance of machinery;
· Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and finished goods;
· Perform daily equipment and ‘Pre Use’ checks;
· Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards;
· Complete all procedural paperwork and documentation to a high standard;
· Monitor, record and report mechanical breakdowns;
· Perform basic maintenance tasks such as recharging vehicle batteries, topping-up battery fluid levels, lubricating equipment and other preventative maintenance as required;
· Organise orders for distribution and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.
· Keep the machinery, warehouse and working areas clean and tidy at all times.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
· Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by what you or those working in your area do or do not do;
· Promote a culture of cooperation with regards to health and safety matters and lead by good example at all times;
· Use safety PPE provided, report missing or damaged items;
· Follow procedures and risk assessments, highlight non-compliance immediately and follow up on any corrective action;
· Report immediately to the most senior member of staff present on the premises when a hazard, fault, or defect becomes apparent;
· Carry out instructions on safety notices and hazard signs and challenge others to follow;
· Follow COSHH (Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations on the correct usage of all chemicals.
· Adopt a ‘clean as you go’ policy, in which you and your team clean the work area and any equipment you have used when the task is completed.
Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities
· Follow and lead by example to ensure all site hygiene rules are maintained;
· Ensure procedures are followed, appropriate documentation completed and non-conformances highlighted and addressed at the time of reporting;
· Maintain traceability of all finished stock in the warehouse;
· Support food safety to ensure compliance with company, governmental and customer requirements and expectations.
Headline Skills & Experience
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse/ distribution or fast paced environment is essential;
A background or previous experience in a mechanical engineering role and/or experience of machinery operation in a food production or FMCG manufacturing environment are preferred;
Capable of successfully completing a practical mechanical assessment;
Valid counterbalance licence essential;
Computer literate;
Due to the physical demands on the role candidates need to be considerate of the expectation required that they are able to:
Lift and move a weight of up to 20kg. Able to adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand occasionally for long periods of time. Able to regularly and routinely sit on a powered industrial truck. Able to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season.
