Injection moulding operator- shift work- production operative - packer

We have availability on both our Day and Night shift please specify which you are interested in when applying.

Monday - 6am - 6pm OR 6pm - 6am

Tuesday - 6am - 6pm OR6pm - 6am

Wednesday - 6am - 6pm OR6pm - 6am

Thursday - 6am - 6pm OR6pm - 6am

Job Summary:

A Production Line Operative at SIL is responsible for working as part of a small team in the sector of production, with direct roles applying to areas such as packaging, quality checking, safety and maintenance. The production line operative will be directly responsible for all products produced coming off the lines, to ensure quality standards are met, and that products are packaged and stored suitably and safely whilst maintaining house-keeping and paperwork standards within the production areas.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect product ensuring it is of high quality
  • Working on Shifts - nights and days
  • Complete product quality check
  • Stack product onto pallet
  • Label and wrap pallet
  • Use pump truck/ forklift to transport pallet to holding area
  • Keep workstation clean and tidy at all times
  • Respecting company policy and behaviour in work areas.
  • Ensuring PPE provided is utilised correctly and not mis-used.
  • Work individually being responsible for specific lines, but as part as an overall team i.e. helping work-mates where necessary.
  • Packaging products off the lines in the correct fashion i.e. correct quantity and packaging method.
  • Ensure ANY FLASH (excess plastic) is trimmed off the products.
  • Actively being vigilant to hazards within the workplace i.e. ring getting stuck on the feed.
  • Basic machine processing.
  • Emergency stops
  • Purge and carriage back
  • Basic robotics
  • Responding to machine problems via supervisor, or if a basic issue to be able to respond and rectify individually.
  • Covering breaks where necessary and providing support to other areas of the company if required.
  • Ensuring paperwork is filled in and up to standard.
  • Ensuring there has been communication to the following shift coming on.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting products of up to 3kg in order to package in boxes or on stillages.
  • Lifting boxes (up to 20kg) of complete products onto pallets for wrapping.
  • Will be required to sit/stand for long periods.
  • Pushing/pulling pallets via pallet truck.
  • Unloading containers when required.
  • May engage in frequent bending, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling in order to package and wrap pallets correctly.

Job requirements

  • Ability to communicate via English language.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team.
  • Ability to pass in-house training methods to gain the skills needed to complete the job thoroughly with knowledge of the job they are doing.

Experience

  • 1-2 years experience within a production environment is ideal
  • Ideally have experience within an Injection Moulding environment
  • Full fork-lift licence is desirable

Job Type: full-time, Permanent/Contract

SALARY - pay for any packers starting is the national living wage for their age which is then reviewed once trained. Pay is subject to experience and capability. Night shift get an additional £10 per shift.

HOURS - 48 hours per week inclusive of a 60 minute break per 12 hour shift. (44 hour working week)

SHIFTS - as above - there is opportunity for overtime.
