Job Title: Production Operator
Grade/Salary: Grade 2, competitive salary
Shift Pattern: Day shift, 4 on, 4 off: 6am - 6pm
Pension: 5% matched pension contribution
PRP Payments of up to £700 paid twice annually
Department Description
A fast paced manufacturing environment producing precision fasteners for the highly regulated Aerospace industry with a minimum of variation.
Each UAP is divided into a number of Autonomous Groups of Production (GAPs) which are responsible for a specific product range or process.
Job Role – Production Operator
The main job purpose of a Production Operator is to set and operate production equipment to achieve all company targets and standards.
The role is currently working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities
· To manage production machine(s) in such a way as to ensure that quality is maintained to the standards required by the company.
· Make sure that the necessary calibrated inspection equipment is present in your working area, ensuring that correct measuring equipment is used and calibrated and approved for production use.
· Participate and engage in the PSM1 meetings, reporting any ongoing and long term problems you encounter.
· Start and stop the machine(s) in a safe manner.
· Perform routine running adjustments such as wear compensation, tool changes and wheel dressing etc…
· Check product during the run and complete appropriate SPC / Auto-control defined in the control plan
· Maintain the flow of product to other machines/processes
· Work to relevant operational procedures, technical specifications and parameters of process and complete all relevant paperwork i.e. Route Cards, Auto Control Forms and SPC etc…
· To set within a reasonable time limit the machine(s) ready for the start of the next batch
· Make sure of an efficient start of production ensuring product traceability is maintained at all times i.e. proper tins, tagging documents and calibrated inspection equipment.
· Carry out first line maintenance in line with Preventative Maintenance.
· Report all breakdowns to your Cell Leader.
· Keep the machine(s) and surrounding work area clean and safe condition, reporting any hazards to the Cell Leader.
· Conduct a thorough and complete shift handover at the start and end of your shift to ensure the seamless continuation of production that is expected.
· Inform Cell Leaders when encountering technical or quality problems.
· Maintain an open and willing attitude towards training and learning new processes and machines/equipment so as to better utilise your time and skills.
· Provide training to new and inexperienced operators.
· Any other ad-hoc duties as required.
