Job description

The mission of Shakespeare in the Parks is to engage and enrich both rural and underserved communities with professional productions of Shakespeare and other classics and, through educational outreach, to inspire creative expression and appreciation of the arts in young audiences. Each summer MSIP produces an eleven-and-a-half-week tour of 78 performances to approximately 25,000 people from across five states and two 10-week tours of 120 performances to both high schools and elementary schools every fall and spring. MSIP is the only professional theatre program in the state currently touring Shakespeare’s plays, the only company in America that tours as extensively into rural areas, the only company in the region that offers its performances free to the public ensuring that all are able to attend, and the only theatre company offering these types of programs to Montana and Wyoming area schools. For the majority of the communities who participate, especially those in under-served & rural areas, MSIP is their only form of live, professional theatre.

Duties and Responsibilities
In conjunction with the Executive Artistic Director (EAD) & Director of Community Partnerships (DCP), the Production Manager will represent MSIP organization and assist with all aspects of each production and day-to-day operations.

1. Production Management
Develops, implements, and manages annual production schedules – including deadlines, build processes, overall timeline
Facilitates all contracts and invoices for MSIP tour coordinators and act as primary liaison for summer tour
With the EAD & Executive Associate create and supervise all production budgets.
Collaborate with HR Business Partner to coordinate and supervise HR functions related to MSIP – with EAD
Serve as first contact point for department and payroll matters
Process new employee forms, reconcile payroll and submit EPAF’s
Facilitates clear communication throughout the production process and act as direct liaison among directors, designers, and administration.
Manages and develop all production meetings and facilitate all technical rehearsals and previews.
Manages all technical staff including Technical Director, Properties Master, Costume Shop Manager, Stage Management, and Sound/Electrics Manager.
Hires seasonal crew – with EAD
Coordinates all local and out of town auditions – with EAD
Drafts contracts for artists, designers, and production staff
Drafts welcome/info packets
Solicits, collects, and distributes post-tour debrief results from each tour – with EAD
Identifies new areas of growth and work to maintain and strengthen the aesthetic of all programming
In collaboration with EAD, develops and facilitates a production/administrative internship program.
Other special projects as identified or assigned.

2. Company Management
Manages housing, contracts, and logistics for actors, directors and designers.
Sets up and close up local housing for all tours
Assists in the development and management of MSIP’s “Tour Book” – all company management paperwork, school info sheets, itineraries, etc.
Purchases, organizes, and maintains all touring and rehearsal supplies
Assists in the planning and facilitation of special events
Plans and books any necessary travel needs for guest artists.
Other special projects as identified or assigned including general office duties.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and/or experience.
Demonstrated working experience within a professional theatre environment or comprehensive project management experience, with a track record of success and responsibility.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office and Database software.
Demonstrated ability to manage shifting competing priorities while acting on both a strategic and tactical level.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or professional equivalent in a theatrical non-profit or commercial organization.
Experience in management techniques and a record of working in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
