Working Hours: 5.30am - 5.00pm (including 30 min unpaid break & 2 x 20 min paid break)

Hourly Rate: £20.20

Role and Responsibilities

Operational

· To lead and ensure Prepared Produce is operational at the agreed set up / shut down times in line with business requirements and production plan

· All colleagues, direct and agency, are greeted and directed to place of work

· Prerequisite checks, operational and people, are completed including, but not limited to, Wash Lines, Blade Checks, Machine Checks, PPE

· All machinery is set up and operational with standard / agreed settings

· Ensure workplace is suited for visual control and lean operation by following the 5s methodology, sort, set in order, shine, standardise, and sustain to ensure a set up to purpose layout

· Proactively lead, manage, and motivate direct reports and subordinates

· Review and forecast headcount requirements based on volume demands for upcoming months

· Be an expert on operational processes, roles, and responsibilities, ensuring first line contact for all queries within prepared produce

· Ensure shift plan / resource is executed in accordance to manufacturing plan

· Work closely with other Shift Managers to ensure effective resource allocation

· Build and maintain positives working relationships with 3rd parties to execute shift staffing requirements

· Review workload forecast and identify resource available to set KPIs, headcount, and any additional as requested

· Report and monitor key metrics and performance indicators, explaining any abnormalities

· Manage feedback on operational output and handover tasks between shifts

· Ensure KPIs are communicated and met to fulfil business requirements

· Accountable for KPI and quality standard delivery via effective communication and delegation

· Ensure shift briefs are delivered to ensure high levels of communication to all employees on business standards and requirements, including delivering overview briefs when required

· Identify process errors by route cause analysis and implement correct actions, with a first step solution-based approach, taking direction and support from senior management when required

· Identify opportunities for improvement, and executing large and complex projects from planning to execution by using relevant data to complete trend analysis and identify relevant business implications, and when possible, implementing within standard operating procedures

· Execute project tasks as instructed by management, including implementing within standard operating procedures

· Identify process errors and facilitate next steps

· Support employees with operational escalated queries and anomalies when required

· Ensure effective Health and Safety requirements are completed as and when required, including but not limited to safety sweeps, safety conversations and hazard reports

· Drive and deliver high standards of housekeeping to comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures and promote a safe working environment

· Ensure all hazard reporting and safety sweeps for Health and Safety are actioned by management team

· Ensure accident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with, and assist with accident investigations where appropriate

· Recruit, assign, direct and evaluate colleagues in line with policies and procedures

· Create training matrix in line with employees learning style and facilitate the develop of employees via delegation

· Train, coach, and mentor all employees to ensure full coverage on shift

People Management

· Quarterly one to ones with Team Leaders to identify key strengths for development to promote succession planning and areas for development

· Conduct quarterly appraisals and probation review outcomes for direct reports

· Develop a cross-skilled workforce ensuring training and development plans are executed in a timely manor

· Ensure all employees are suitably inducted/trained/competent to carry out the tasks and that the necessary certificates/training records of competence are in place and appropriate

· Ensure all employees are issued with personal protective equipment as required

· Manage holiday authorisation process, ensuring sufficient trained cover is always on shift

· Work with central functions (HR, Payroll, Recruitment, Learning & Development and Time & Attendance) to seek guidance on policies and procedures and support in resolve escalated queries, including any escalation of requirements, such as training on new process / procedures

· Work in collaboration with People Team (learning and development) to ensure all employees have achieved the relevant training requirements in line with volume demands in department areas

· Lead employee relations (ER) meetings with People Team in attendance for support and guidance up to and including dismissal in a legally compliant and professional manor

· Where the business implements changes, communicate the purpose of changes, and encourage others to contribute positively to and participate in the change process ensuring confidentiality is maintained

· Identify and execute performance management by informal training matrix and formal performance improvement plans

· Manage, delegate and support probation process for direct reports and subordinates ensuring outcome meetings booked and held in a timely manner

· Support welfare cases, including management of escalation to the People Team when required for formal support

· Support Team Managers on absence management ensuring absence management policies and procedures are followed, including AWOL management

· Authorising and auditing absence management decisions outside policy on an ad-hoc basis ensuring all documentation is recorded on the people management platform

· Ensure all people management actions and agreements have auditable trace

· Liaising in an adequate manner to all employees, adhering to companies’ policies and procedures

· Encourage and lead by example on all engagement events / activities

· Ensuring all employees are treated fairly whilst adhering to Equal Opportunity Act 2010

Role Requirements

- Demonstratable experience in leading and managing large operational teams

- Strong understanding of BRC regulations and relevant legislation involving Food Safety

- Experience of Food industry

- Proven experience to working within a KPI culture and change management

- Proficient IT competencies, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel

- Capable of delivering reports using excel

- Understanding of a safe working environment

- Fluent English language, both verbal and written

- Willingness to enhance induvial knowledge in areas of development
