Job description
We are a historic manufacturer of premium cashmere, renowned for our outstanding traditional expertise and been a key supplier of couture cashmere garments to prestigious fashion houses, including Chanel, for many years.
Barrie Knitwear are looking for a manager who can support the establishment and growth of their new production site in Leicester. We are looking for a proactive individual who will work with the team to set up the new training and production site and who will ultimately manage the unit on a day-to-day basis.
Key to the success of this role will be the individual’s ability to build relationships, both internally and externally – the site will be remote from the main Barrie Knitwear factory (based in Hawick, Scotland) and therefore will operate as a standalone unit. This individual will be required to manage the site on a day-to-day basis, motivating the team and working within the local community, while liaising with the Senior Team in Hawick. Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills are essential.
The unit will initially open as a Training Academy, employing up to 30 individuals who will be trained to develop their linking skills. The Training Academy will have a team of 4 Trainers who will report to the Leicester Site Manager on a daily basis.
Over the course of the first 12 months, as the new recruits build their confidence and skills in linking, the unit in Leicester will grow to be a production unit, with a permanent Training Academy within it, constantly developing new talent.
This is a unique opportunity to join Barrie Knitwear, a long-established international brand, at the beginning of their new venture in Leicester.
