Affinity Water are looking to grow a dynamic new team with an experienced Production Engineering Technician.

This level role will provide local technical support on projects (direct delivery, capital schemes, OPEX improvement/efficiency projects). This will support the Production Engineer resource in areas where local resource could be enhanced. The Production Engineering Technician supports and coaches the rest of the technicians and acts as the 1st line go to person for operational and technical issues. Provides fault finding and problem solving through technical expertise. The Production Engineering technician provides cover for when the Production Lead is not in the area. The Production Engineering Technician is part of the Production Frontline team, reporting to the Production Lead.

Principal accountabilities

People

  • Provide support and cover for the Production Lead during periods of absence/unavailability.
  • Provide technical support to the frontline teams and mentor new starters and develop members of the team as required.
  • Deliver engineering projects, working closely with the Production Lead, Technicians, Production Engineers, Contractors and Planning Delivery Manager.
  • Provide 1st line support the techs to free up the Production Lead.
  • Responsible for project technical delivery, ensuring strong health, safety, and well-being culture.
  • Liaise with colleagues and key stakeholders to proactively address emerging problems, challenge peers and influence solutions to prevent impact to operations, and drive efficiencies.
  • Member of the Production Technician standby rota.

Technical

  • Act as the technical point of contact for projects and operational issues supporting the Production Lead, Production Engineers and frontline teams
  • Identify and facilitate technical change initiatives across their area, to drive continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Produce Safe systems of work, Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Deliver work following the outage process, ensuring resolutions are undertaken at pace.
  • Responsible for improving site performance within their Area, supporting and sharing best practice and driving continuous improvement across the department and directorate.
  • Provide visible technical supervision to the team through area technical initiatives, inspections and audits.
  • Support delivery of capital schemes. Inclusive of large capital named schemes, capital maintenance, reactive capital works and Reservoir Programme within agreed timescales.
  • Deliver work assigned on Maximo via the Production Delivery Manager, inclusive of defect resolution, capital projects, audits etc.
  • Deliver technical solutions in line with CDM and company procedure and standards requirements.
  • Drive site and asset resilience, delivering contingencies and identifying critical spares and equipment.
  • Deliver direct delivery schemes and maintenance programmes freeing up the Production Engineers (PEs) to concentrate on larger schemes. Work closely with the PEs to delivery technical solutions as required.
  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
