Job description

We would like to appoint a qualified and experienced Production Engineer to join our team based in Sunderland.

The Production Engineer is responsible for implementing, measuring, maintaining and enhancing the processes and product during the life cycle of the vehicle model. You will be involved from concept to delivery of processes capable of producing metal components for the customer at the right quality and rate, plus the right cost for the business.

The Production Engineer ensure the manufacturing processes can maintain product standards and they identify process improvement opportunities that enable stable manufacturing outcomes at lowest cost levels.

Main accountabilities of a Production Engineer include:

  • Preparation of process design estimates and solutions to allow new business quotations.
  • Complete production and design feasibility studies.
  • Support in the investigation, analysis and rectification of customer concerns and 8D investigations.
  • Understand and deliver plant capability and capacity improvements.
  • Trial equipment and buy-off at suppliers as required
  • Deploy lean manufacturing principles at process concept and as a process improvement approach.
  • Write engineering specifications to ensure that external vendors/subcontractors are able to meet the technical and cost requirement of the business.
  • Work in co-operation with all other departments to achieve world class quality products for our global automotive customers, and ensure project timelines and budgets are met.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an HND in an engineering discipline.
  • Process improvement experience.
  • Experience in developing equipment scopes and specification.
  • Able to lead structured problem solving activities.
  • Able to manipulate manually created or electronic data to guide improvement strategy.

Salary & Benefits:

£38,000 to £44,000 + Private Medical Insurance + Life Assurance (4xsalary) + 27 days holiday (+public holidays) + Discounts for goods and services via our employee benefits platform + more.
