In 2021, the BBC announced plans to move even more of our productions to bases across the UK. BBC Audio teams in Cardiff and Bristol are leading the way with a variety of programmes and podcasts for Radio 3, Radio 4, World Service and BBC Sounds. We’re now looking for a Production Co-ordinator to work in our Science team based in Cardiff.. If successful, you’ll be part of a team of PCs working on programmes such as Inside Health, Bad People, Inside Science, Bad People and the Curious Cases of Fry and Rutherford

The right person will be an excellent organiser and team player. You’ll have a good knowledge of Audio, amazing administrative and business skills and an interest in Radio 4 programmes.

BBC Audio Wales and West of England

We’re a new hub within BBC Audio bringing together network radio production teams in Cardiff and Bristol. Main Responsibilities

The Production Co-ordinator provides logistical and co-ordination support to the production team on one or more productions, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.

As a production co-ordinator you will:

• Work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multiplatform content by providing the ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
• Compiling pre and post production paperwork, as well as any other programme metadata required.
• Clearing copyright material for all platforms
• Support both the prep and TX of live programmes
• Booking and procuring resources required to deliver the programmes
• Provide administrative support for the production office
• Negotiate artist and contributor fees.

Are you the right candidate?

The ideal candidate will have:

• Demonstrable experience of playing a co-ordinating role within a production team
• Experience of delivering a range of/parts of productions on time and on budget and of coordinating deliverables for productions
• Good working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical awareness
• Excellent organisational and planning skills - able to schedule and prioritise people and activities to meet operational deadlines
• Able to use and advise on production systems and adopt new technologies on productions
• Knows how to identify and source suitable resources and negotiate deals within given parameters
• Business and finance skills - able to prepare, manage and/or monitor specific production resource plans and budgets
• Knowledge of the BBC and the wider industry
