BBC Radio Drama’s Units in Birmingham Salford and London are part of the wider Radio Drama UK community coming under the leadership of Head of Arts, Drama and Documentaries Radio. Based in Birmingham, The Archers is the flagship Drama strand on Radio 4 and Britain’s longest running continuing drama having begun transmission in January 1951.
Supporting the strand’s editorial and production structure, we are looking to recruit a Production Coordinator to work within our hardworking, friendly team at the heart of the department. Reporting to the Production Manager you will provide support to the whole production team.

Are you the right candidate?We’re looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual with knowledge of radio production techniques and an interest in, and commitment to our output. Knowledge of the arts world, casting, and having the confidence to deal with writers, actors and agents are key aspects of this role. Good verbal communication skills are essential as is the ability to remain calm under pressure. The small team is extremely busy and you’ll combine self-sufficiency with real Team sense, have good interpersonal, office organisational and IT Skills, be numerate and clear-thinking. Experience of studio timings is also critical with the fast pace studio recordings. The post will cover the whole range of PC duties and knowledge of SAP and My Business is desirable. Ideally you will have knowledge of The Archers characters and storylines and an enthusiasm for serial drama.
