Electric House Production Teams work on a wide range of videos for our own social channels and those of our clients including, for instance, user-generated style content, mini-documentaries, live shows and competitions, sketches, product reviews, and product hero videos.
We are looking for a Production Assistant to join our team to cover a period of maternity leave.
THE ROLE
The role of Production Assistant is to provide day-to-day support for the smooth running of every shoot.
As Production Assistant, you will support the Producer and the team in the following areas:
PRE-PRODUCTION
- Research and book filming locations in line with requirements
- Identify which props are needed and purchase with best possible value for money
- Attend creative meetings and contribute to video concepts
- Assist with shot lists and the script writing process, if needed
- Identify appropriate costume requirements for individual shoots
- Complete a shoot-specific in-depth risk assessment, safety briefing, and notify the Producer of any additional measures that need to be taken to minimise risks
- Preparing call sheets and sending to actors in advance
- Preparing and sending actor contracts and ensuring they are signed in advance of the shoot
- A consistent point of contact for the actors
PRODUCTION
- Driving team members, talent, or visitors to and from a shoot or lunch
- Welcoming talent and visitors and responding to any questions they may have
- Communicating with talent and visitors to ensure they are in the right place at the right time, as per the call sheet
- Operate camera, sound recording, and lighting equipment as and when instructed
- General running duties. This may include, sourcing and purchasing refreshments, sourcing and purchasing additional props, and maintaining all kit
- Assisting Videographers with setting kit up, breaking it down, and cleaning it
- Working with the team to ensure the location is clean and tidy at the end of each shoot
POST-PRODUCTION
- Accurately inputting shoot expenses into budget documents
- Assisting with captioning, editing, and using After Effects as needed
- Sending actor invoice templates and liaising with our Finance team to ensure the actor is paid in a timely manner
- Organising and/or disposing of any props used for the shoot
GENERAL
- Production Assistants also provide general assistance to the wider Production Team as required. This may include, for instance:
- Transporting kit, props, or equipment between multiple sites
- Administration support
- Tidying and cleaning kit, props, our office, and any other locations at which we are filming
- Promptly submitting expense receipts to the finance team
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will:
- Have some previous experience working in a creative industry and/or will have a keen interest in video and film production
- Be extremely enthusiastic, positive and proactive, always looking for ways to support the Producer and the team with a 'no job is too small' approach
- Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Hold a clean and valid driving licence and be comfortable travelling to shoot locations when required
- Be available for some weekend or evening working on an ad hoc basis
- Be extremely organised and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Be a creative thinker, and be confident to put forward ideas and solutions to the team when required
- Be confident in meeting and communicating with new people such as clients, actors and freelancers
