Title: Production Assistant (Contract)

Accessible Media Inc. (AMI)’s mission is to entertain, inform and empower Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. Operating three broadcast services, AMI-télé in French, AMI-tv and AMI-audio in English, AMI’s vision is to establish and support a voice for Canadians with disabilities, representing their interests, concerns and values through accessible media, and positive reflection and portrayal.

The Role:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Live Production, the Production Assistant will accomplish AMI’s programming objectives by contributing to the visual production of AMI’s live TV production(s).

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the Visual Producer through preparing visual elements the afternoon prior to show airing, completing the daily rundown highlighting all visual elements and timing, and establishing and confirm all internal and external communications.
  • Ensure the seamless broadcast of AMI-tv’s live program by communicating video and visual elements to the director, collaborating with Control Room staff to confirm quality of audio and video connection and setup.
  • Contribute to post-show meetings, highlighting technical issues and troubleshooting with all contributors.
  • Ensure the AMI shared image library is organized and maintained for live show production.
  • Work with Senior Show Producers to post show-specific social media content, including tweets, polls, and upcoming segment guests.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing results as needed.

Requirements:

  • A Degree/Diploma in Television Broadcasting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 years of video production experience with news or feature production. Minimum 1 year of live control room experience in a PA or AD role.
  • Strong knowledge of post-production stages, video and audio editorial processes and story telling.
  • Knowledge of multi-camera switchers (TriCaster an asset), current editing hardware and software, including non-Linear Editing systems and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, schedule priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
