About The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance at the heart of the trading teams so that Morrisons’ standards for quality, safety, statutory compliance, corporate social responsibility and integrity are achieved. The role ensures that our customers can enjoy wearing our clothing products, knowing that they are safe, legal and great quality. This is a wonderful opportunity to join the great team at our Coalville offices.


You’ll be accountable for:


  • Ensuring that customers safety and satisfaction are at the forefront of all decision making

  • Operate a continuous improvement programme through the global quality framework to improve customer satisfaction

  • Monitor customer returns, complaint trends, social media posts and media reviews to identify product issues and take appropriate action

  • Verify that all suppliers/factories are routinely audited against the Morrisons Manufacturing Standard and any necessary corrective action plans are implemented by suppliers in a timely manner

  • Be the hub for supplier communication, clearly communicating Morrisons expectations and quality framework for both domestic and direct import products

  • Develop, maintain and communicate all technical and quality requirements to ensure all product is developed, sourced and produced in line with Morrisons expectations

  • Manage the technical process including product specifications, risk assessment, pre-production sign off, product testing, care labels and pre-shipment inspections to authorise approval for suppliers to Morrisons

  • Understand and support the buying/sourcing strategy for your product area, monitoring performance of suppliers against key KPI’s and work with the trading teams and global sourcing office to ensure the category is working with the right suppliers for the right product.

  • Simplify and speed up the technical process through supplier development, supporting and training suppliers with the ability to self-manage risk and approve products identified as appropriate

  • Provide commercially sensitive, objective, technical expertise and product specifications in categories in order to improve profitability

  • Achieve a reduction in returns/waste to improve the net margin and gross profit

About You

Role-specific knowledge, skills and experience:


Knowledge


  • Relevant Degree or equivalent

  • Sound knowledge of the BRC

  • Sound working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control process and procedure

  • A good understanding of manufacturing process and controls In depth product knowledge of product category with relevant manufacturing experience beneficial



Skills


  • Ability to identify and manage risk to an acceptable level (brand risk, customer safety)

  • Ability to influence business decisions that impact on product safety, legality, integrity and quality

  • Ability to work under pressure and spot opportunities for improvement

  • Control of supplier approval through audit - formal Lead Assessor qualification desirable

  • Attention to detail and an aptitude to and understanding of regulations and legal requirements

  • Competent at checking quality and foreseeable use across a range of product groups to uphold customer expectations

  • Ability to manage own workload, use initiative and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills

  • Tenacity to follow up and resolve issues



Experience


  • Implementation of supplier and product approval, capability and improvement plans

  • Incident management, including implementation of recommended actions

  • Both breadth and depth of experience in specific product areas
