The Product Owner role at RDT
Working in your product domain, the Product Owner is responsible for the product roadmap and backlog, managing through to epics, stories and driving an agile process. You will be overall accountable for the delivery of the right product, on time and within budget.
The Product Owner is the customer representative and champion on the team, making sure that the team understands who and why they are building for, the pain points and benefits desired.
You’ll have a passion for ensuring that the products and features you build are adopted in market, driving demonstrable value to our clients and revenues for RDT.
What you’ll be doing
You will have the following responsibilities:
You will be responsible for delivering the transformational automation capability, ensuring that the workflows, eventing, integrations and APIs come together to automate critical insurance journeys for our customers.
- Setting the product vision and clearly communicating and engaging on this with the team
- Identify the business value of a minimal viable product and minimum marketable features
- Prepare, document and manage project reporting of budgets and forecasts to meet RDT’s company objective and budget
- Assist with the estimation of new products and or change requests
- Manage stakeholder engagement and expectations directly with the customer agreeing product backlog priorities, aligning these to release plans then communicating the progress
- Make day-to-day decisions under the directions set by the stakeholders and remove business related impediments raised by the team
- Sprint planning, deciding what needs to be done in the release through collaboration with the team
- Attend daily stand-ups to answer questions from the team members
- Participate as a member of the team for the teams continuous improvement in Sprint retrospectives and follow through on assigned actions
- Be available to answer questions as they arrive, so that the team keeps moving forward un-impeded
- Participate in RDT’s product development process from idea generation, screening, idea evaluation, development through to commercialisation
- Actively work with other product owners and business analysts to maximise the value delivered by all teams
What we need from you
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified scrum Product Owner
- Insurance qualifications favourably regarded, with experience in personal lines insurance
- Proven experience of working in Agile teams, preferably as Product Owner
Essential Skills:
- Ability to make commercially viable decisions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with good reasoning skills
- Planning and implementation – strong planning and project management skills
- Knowing how to design MVPs and iterating fast
- Time management, manage the time and stress by being well organised
- Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communicator and negotiator
- Able to work with Azure DevOps or similar
- User journey mapping
- BPMN 2
- Requirements gathering
- Data analysis
Desirable Skills and experience:
- Experience in the insurance industry
- Excellent domain knowledge of either claims or policy
- IpaaS development
- SaaS and working within a managed service model
