Product Owner
PSL’s continued expansion has created an opportunity to join our successful team in shaping and developing our Product function in supporting our transition to a client centric, product-based organisation. This is a new key role which will include multiple responsibilities.
The Phoebus Client Product Owner will have full ownership of how the Phoebus Client is developed to meet the Market, Client and Competitive requirements as identified and prioritised by the PSL Product Manager.
The Phoebus Client Product Owner is an internal PSL focussed role, whereas the Phoebus Client Product Manager is an externally facing role.
Purpose of the role:
- Converting Market, Client and competitive requirements, as identified and prioritised by the PSL Phoebus Client Product Manager, into technical solutions within the Phoebus Client
- Leadership of an agile team focusing on delivering complex technical features
- Ownership of the roadmap and backlog for improvements and extensions to the Phoebus Client, leading the planning process, and agreeing the scope and priority of requirements with stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery to plan.
- Ownership of the technical architecture of the Phoebus Client, ensuring that the Phoebus Client remains contemporary and including End of Life management.
- The process for Build, vs Buy vs Integrate decisions
- Facilitate cross team collaboration to ensure success in achieving targets
- Identify and document requirements, clearly articulate user stories, journey flows and acceptance criteria to enable the successful delivery of technical features in a periodic release deployment
- Identify and engage stakeholders, lead workshops and ensure business needs and stakeholder expectations are met through creating a product backlog that communicates a common vision and criteria for success for the Phoebus Client.
- Be the primary source of information and truth for the Phoebus Client and leverage expertise to provide insight and clarity
- Champion an Agile approach to the development of new features, learning through automated testing and determining the most appropriate MVP and iteratively roll-out key improvements.
- Build a strong relationship with the Scrum Master, development team, and technology organisation helping to plan delivery sprints and helping to continuously improve the way the team works – encouraging them to inspect, adapt and embrace learnings.
- Work closely with the Product Manager to complete ongoing market research to identify new opportunities to create value.
- Work closely with Operations teams to ensure that identity and security is applied consistently and complies to policies where necessary
- Lead regular showcases to present progress to the wider team
- Ensure there is a common understanding of how Product based approaches can be leveraged and implemented at an enterprise level across the business and underpin this with appropriate coaching/training to facilitate successful cultural habits
- Ownership of processes associated with the development of the Phoebus Client including: Test approach, development approach, development standards, release approach.
- Responsible for driving automation in development, configuration, deployment and testing
- R&D activities to ensure that the Phoebus Client Product remains contemporary including PoC processes.
- Fully responsible for the costs and budget associated with the Phoebus Client.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, IT or business related
- At least 7 years of experience with IT and/or Product Management
Knowledge, skills and competencies
- Deep agile Product Owner experience ideally gained within an agile team, ideally in a FinTech / Financial services organisation
- Strong technical acumen to help to support sprint planning and any pre-planning sessions
- Solid planning skills and the ability to always look ahead, highlight issues and risks, providing solutions and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of software development with experience leading a self-supporting developer team
- Demonstrable experience in a matrix organisation with strong influencing skills
- Demonstratable experience of modern software deployment, publishing of applications, and deployment methods
- Demonstrable experience of contemporary systems architectures
- Knowledge of Jira, Confluence and similar Agile tools
- Experience of working in regulated environments
- Exposure to Test Driven Design
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence to challenge others in the right way
