WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Product Manager plays a key cross-functional leadership role in defining product and business requirements. The Product Manager is the internal product expert, designing and prioritizing product feature requirements, and establishing processes for effectively managing the entire product lifecycle - from concept, prototype, demo, to engineering, Q&A, and product launch. Specific deliverables include product requirements, competitive assessments and monitoring, market trends, product usability tests, prototype concepts, pricing strategies, release launch plans, and collateral content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proactively research market needs and competitive landscape to define market opportunities and business requirements for new offerings.
- Communicate with customers, prospects, partners, analysts, sales, and consulting to understand and document product requirements, and identify highest priority areas for future product investment.
- Build product prototypes and demonstrations to support both engineering and sales efforts.
- Define technical requirements, create actionable tech specs for engineering and consulting, establish product release processes, and plan release schedules.
- Coordinates and maintains pertinent product roadmap and milestone dates and provides necessary monthly updates to internal personnel.
- Review and evaluate development deliverables on a continual basis to ensure that requirements are properly addressed.
- Perform product demonstrations to customers, prospects, and partners to support sales initiatives.
- Creates demonstration scripts and provides product leadership and training to sales and sales engineers.
- Maintain comprehensive feature list with gap analysis to prioritize future enhancements.
- Create effective sales tools including value proposition, collateral, detailed features and benefits, what's new etc.
- Develop customer product bulletin content for regular customer communiqués.
- Maintain close relationship to customers for awareness of customer needs and perspectives and what works, what doesn't, and what more is needed to further their success.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, sales, or marketing.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in enterprise application software development and/or product management.
- Familiarity with database software design principles
- Ability to operate as a matrix manager in coordinating people and technical resources from multiple areas of a company.
- Exceptional communicator and presenter with high energy and confidence.
- Strong technical skills with the inquisitiveness to learn products, work with them, and constantly determine ways to improve them. This is a job for a technical 'tinkerer' who loves their product.
