As the Recreation Coordinator, you will work under the direction of the Recreation Program Supervisor, and oversee the daily operation, planning, and administration of the Front Porch for Active Adults, as well as fitness and wellness programs offered by the Golden Parks and Recreation Department.
Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday. Early mornings, days, evenings, nights, and weekends may be required or assigned as needed.
Coordinates and supervises wellness programs and fitness classes including but not limited to: Aerobics, Cardio, Yoga, Tai Chi, Chuan, Martial Arts, Pilates, and personal training. Teaches a variety of fitness classes as needed to cover absences.
Maintains contact with instructors and staff to disseminate information relating to programs, services, and community center updates. Conducts periodic staff meetings to evaluate and investigate new services including program development, scheduling, equipment, and facility needs. Assists staff with information related to upcoming trainings and certification opportunities, client health and safety, and changes in the fitness industry.
Provides training, guidance, and supervision to assigned staff. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments, delegates work as appropriate to assigned staff. Maintains training and certification records to ensure compliance with organization requirements.
Prepares and coordinates marketing and promotional materials for publication in brochures and flyers to provide information and promote interest in assigned programs to members and participants of the Golden Community Center and community.
Ensures classes and offerings are of highest quality and properly taught by experienced, and qualified instructors. Ensures programs are safe, effective and age appropriate.
Evaluates assigned programs through observations and written participant feedback for class/program improvement. Reviews evaluations with instructors and supervisor. Initiates changes to better meet the needs of the public and the organization for successful participation.
Assists with administration of approved annual budget. Performs cost control activities and ensures that assigned areas of responsibilities are performed within budget. Monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to ensure sound fiscal control. Assists in preparing annual budget requests. Ensures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
Conducts safety inspections as necessary to maintain a safe environment for program participants. Promotes a safe environment for wellness staff and patrons. Enforces all department policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude. Handles and reports to the supervisor any problems, concerns, or emergencies that arise that may affect the program or the City.
Supervises, schedules, and monitors all assigned facilities used for purposes of assigned programming rented, owned, or leased by the city.
Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for effective supervision of facility operations as assigned.
Other duties or projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Current certifications for personal training and/or group fitness from a national accredited fitness-testing agency required with 3-5 years of experience teaching fitness or recreation activities preferred. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with major course work in parks and recreation, business, physical education or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. Excellent organizational, customer service, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
