ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Product Data Specialist to join the business on a permanent basis at our Crewe site. Reporting to the Functional Manager – Bill of Material (BOM) & CAD Structuring.
The Product Data Specialist will be accountable for creating and maintaining bills of material for vehicle build and digital validation.
The Whole Vehicle Product Data Team define, develop and validate a single source of data truth for vehicle Projects. The team facilitate and coordinate data to enable vehicle products to be designed and manufactured. The team cover many aspects, including - Bill of material creation & maintenance, digital prototype facilitation, data system ownership.
Typical duties are:
- Creating and maintaining bills of material for vehicle projects to a plan with specific deliverables (aligned to the Bentley Product Emergence Process).
- Reporting status of functional area
- Providing a service for the R&D function and other key cross business areas
- Accountable for self-monitoring of data accuracy, and capable of generating key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analysis and management of data structure related issues and identifying root cause
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Applicant will be data focussed, with a keen interest on configuring data and achieving high quality and accuracy. You will have proven ability to coordinate and manage large data sets.
You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, be well organised and be able to work alone with autonomy to meet set deliverables against deadlines.
Experience using bills of material applications would be beneficial. Having a knowledge of the bills of material structuring philosophies are preferred.
You will demonstrate:
- Competent in understanding and/or creating vehicle bills of materials
- Ability to work accurately under pressure with rigorous attention to detail
- A continuous improvement mind set
- Ability to communicate at various levels across the business and in varying forums
- Adept in multiple data handling systems (i.e. VW Group systems, excel, SAP based systems incl. TI Syncro, Kanban systems, data analytics applications, PLM Teams centre).
- Excellent IT skills including Excel, data dashboards and PowerPoint
- Education to degree level or equivalent or proven experience in Engineering, bill of material; or logistics disciplines.
- German language skills are desirable
