Salary: Hay 7 (£32,020 - £34,723) or Hay 6 (£35,411 - £38,296) if fully qualified

A number of opportunities have arisen to join Avon Fire & Recue Service as a Procurement & Supplies Officer within our Procurement & Supplies Team. You will provide the effective and efficient procurement of goods and services for Avon Fire Authority (AFA) under the supervision of the Procurement & Supplies Manager.
The Procurement & Supplies Officer will be responsible for purchasing goods and services, ensuring they meet the required specification, are fit for purpose and value for money. Ensuring compliance with legal and audit requirements at all stages of procurement. You will act as the subject matter expert, providing advice and support supplier improvement through training, tender submission feedback and offering advice and guidance to enable them to improve policies and procedures.
The Procurement & Supplies Team cover all categories of spend including Fleet, Uniform, ICT and a number of professional services. The Service is committed to it’s environmental targets with Procurement closely involved in a number of sustainability projects.
To be considered for one of these positions, it is desirable for you to have a MCIPS or equivalent degree, alternatively if you are studying for MCIPS or have CIPS Level 4 or 5 qualifications this would be beneficial. You must have comprehensive recent experience of contact management and evaluation. It is essential that you have the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, and to negotiate successfully with contractors, suppliers, budget holders and potential procurement partners.
It is essential that you hold a current driving licence or ability to arrange suitable alternative transport to travel to various work locations.
