As Procurement Manager you will be responsible for the full end to end procurement process, building strong working relationships with all other departments, especially finance.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Managing the end to end Purchasing function, including supplier and product sourcing, price negotiation, material requirement planning, raising Purchase Orders, analysing accuracy of deliveries, query resolution and invoice matching.
- Key focus will be raw material, ingredient and packaging purchasing, but will cover all other factory purchasing requirements
- Lead with finance on ongoing projects to take the PO process digital
- Work with finance to be the custodian of spend in the factory – ensuring correct purchasing process is followed by all departments
- Identify and mitigate any risks in the in the purchasing process, while ensuring recipe specification are maintained
- Ensure raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and sundry items purchasing requirements are met.
- To take a leading role in the monthly stocktaking process
- Working with planning team to Implement and monitor minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Identification of slow moving and obsolete stock, identifying and write off risks
- Development of excellent working relationships with all suppliers
- Implementing purchasing strategies to ensure the best products and suppliers are used in terms of value, availability and quality
- Ensuring correct customs processes are followed for non UK supply.
- To help support other areas or teams for the overall benefit of the Company.
Qualifications / Skills
A minimum of four years working in a purchasing/buying role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment, preferably within the food and drinks sector.
- An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience and wiliness to develop a growing purchasing function
- A keen desire to make the role your own and help drive change
- An understanding of allergen awareness & supplier approval requirements under SALSA or BRC
- Experience of working within a BRC / FSC22000 / ISO9001 management system.
- HACCP and Food Safety aware, ideally qualified to at least Level 2.
- An approachable, proactive and positive person with a keen eye for detail.
- A relevant qualification in purchasing or procurement is desirable
