Job Introduction

At Tarmac, ‘who you are’ matters. We want to get to know you. If you share our values and are proud of a job well done, collaborative in working well with others and ambitious to make things better, then have a read of what we have on offer.

We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Graduate to join our Riney business Procurement Team at our offices located in the heart of London - E3 2TB. The role is commutable from all over the capital or the surrounding areas.

Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

As part of the UK and Ireland Tarmac Procurement team, you as a Procurement Graduate will participate in our 2-year graduate scheme, helping you to make decisions to deliver business impact, present powerfully, communicate effectively and many more key skills. Throughout your time as a Procurement Graduate you will be responsible for delivering safe, sustainable value, developing long term strategies for the procurement of different goods and services we use. In our team you will be responsible for building relationships with key suppliers, managing a number of ‘spend categories’, each with its own challenges, and opportunities. You will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving. An extremely exciting role where you can see the output of your hard work all around you (quite literally!)

Key focus of Procurement Graduate position, not exhaustive:

  • Learn all about Procurement, gaining an understanding of the manufacturing and production via a dedicated Tarmac development programme and the CRH international Procurement programme

  • Whilst your 2 years will primarily be based in one place, you will then be expected to gain valuable experience across our UK and Ireland Cluster; or participate in an exciting international assignment

  • Engaging with teams in our business to understand business procurement needs, requirements, specifications, and objectives

  • Market and supply chain analysis using various tools to guide and inform sourcing strategies

  • Managing tender processes and analysing results to make informed decisions about supplier selection. Negotiating with suppliers to drive best value.

  • Utilisation of other sourcing tools such as E-Auctions and engaging with the wider CRH team (Riney’s global parent company) to synergise opportunities

  • Managing suppliers to ensure they are delivering goods and services required to the standard the business expects and ensuring contracts are compliant.

  • Developing added value projects with suppliers to help improve the way we work and deliver further value throughout the lifetime of a contract

  • Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed!

Key Operational Colleagues you will liaise with in this role of Procurement Graduate:

  • Business Managers – Suppliers - Finance and Support teams - Area Operations and Commercial teams – Industry Bodies - Customers

What you get from us:

  • Your line manager and mentor will give you help and guidance throughout your graduate programme

  • The Tarmac Graduate community, who you will collaborate and spend time with throughout your graduate experience

  • Your Procurement colleagues, who most of your daily interactions will be with

  • Health and Safety Team, always on hand to make sure we are working safely, although safety is everyone’s responsibility!

  • Human Resources, here to support the development of your career with Tarmac
