Our Business Support teams deliver the vital services to ensure the continued success of our business divisions. These services include HR, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, Legal and Commercial, Estates and Facilities, Core Technology, Corporate Security, IT, and Fleet. Every person in every team is contributing the lasting impact our Team makes.
Our Procurement team are responsible for making sure our projects have the right products, materials and services in the right place at the right time. They are responsible for making crucial decisions around sourcing, negotiating contracts, optimising costs, managing supplier performance and working with business stakeholders at all levels to deliver efficiencies and innovations.
The successful applicant will be part of a driven support team and throughout the apprenticeship, will have real day-to-day responsibilities. To underpin their independent studies, there will also be opportunities to support a range of important Procurement projects and learn from skilled professionals both in the Procurement team and across our business functions.
What you’ll do:
- The successful apprentice will take ownership of their own personal development and engagement to receive the full benefit of hands-on experience and training provided, with an end goal of learning all key tasks within the Procurement function and to meet your full potential
- Gain working knowledge and understanding of Procurement systems, tools and reporting
- Process internal requisitions and place purchase orders with suppliers
- Maintain supplier records and compliance data in various systems
- Build an understanding of the Procurement lifecycle
- Learn and develop knowledge of the tender and contracting process, reporting and analysis
- Support the attainment of increased value from the supply chain
- Build and maintaining effective working relationships
- Drive continuous improvement to processes
- Develop an understanding of compliance with international and customer-driven quality standards
- Meet business requirements and support profitable growth through bid support and functional activities, by promoting use of Telent’s tools and process.
- Support the procure-2-pay (P2P) process by maintaining pricing and supplier data in our Procurement system
- Meet service level agreements (SLAs) for processing procurement support requests
- Facilitate the onboarding, evaluation and approval of new suppliers in our digital sourcing system
- Analyse and present data
- Help to create and maintain internal and external communications
- Assist with business and supplier reviews as needed create, distribute and log supplier review minutes
- Provide administrative assistance to various team stakeholders
Who you are & what to prepare for:
- We don’t require individuals with experience as we will provide full training in all aspects of the role. We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn.
- You will get a mobile phone and laptop as part of the role
- Although supported throughout the programme by us at Telent you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development
- Client and customer service is critical to the services we provide customers.
- You will need to have strong planning and organisation skills
- You will need to be inquisitive and a problem solver. If you are able to work logically to solve a problem and the flexibility and drive to make changes then this role would be perfect for you
- You will need to have strong ICT skills with experience of using MS products such as Word, Excel and Teams
- Communication is vital; you will need to be an effective communicator both in writing and verbally
The Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification). This must include Maths, English and ideally an ICT based subject
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
Programme Specifics:
- This apprenticeship is typically 18 months in duration
- Starting salary of £16,000 which will increase throughout the duration of the programme.
- The qualification you gain will be a Level 3 in Procurement and Supply Chain Management
- Our chosen training provider Reach4Skills will support you in obtaining your qualification.
- You will work in an Agile model from both our office in Chorley and remotely from home. From time to time there will be travel to other Telent locations for meetings or training
- On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent where you can continue to pursue your career
- You will be mentored by colleagues, supervisors, managers and tutors throughout the programme
- You will work towards industry recognised vendor certification; Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
